Hmmm, i must be rather lucky! My supervisor writes me references in no time at all (and she is scary busy, rushed off her feet absolutely with a zillion multi country projects and cant-keep-track-how-many publication!!)....she gave me one today, even though school's closed for the Xmas break and hardly anyone's around on campus! PS: In fact I was the one who dealyed getting it, she had it ready 3 weeks ago and dropped me an email to say its ready. The deadline is 31st Jan, can you beat that?

Why oh Why WHy WHy do you not read what people below you have just written?

First, I think something's hit our forum.Maybe it's to do with the holidays and all the cheer (or the lack of it) making us all go loony, but here again like on another thread. STOP. please speak to LOCAL 'experts' (read friends, fellow dept folks, university people) people who are not going to have to sit around on a forum and give their advice on what COULD be the case with a case which they know nothing about. SPEAK with LOCAL people, READ guidebooks and legislations and regulations LINE by LINE.


And I think this forum has exhausted its capacity to offer your advice based on nothing but tentative guessing as to what the situation on the ground could possibly be.

2 things:

1. This is far too complex and apparently has too many details which are impossible for anyone to provide any advice on, in an online anonymous forum (unless providing such advice is their job, which I doubt is the case for anyone here). People may misunderstand the situation, may just not get the picture through no fault of their own or whatever. So this isnt perhaps the best way to resolve the issue.

2. Second, a lot of people have spent a huge amount of time trying to get their head around this, and from your responses you seem to be completely indecisive. The only person to take a call on this utterly complicated issue is YOU, and those who have first hand knowledge of this in the department.

Stay calm, and best.

One thing strikes me.....why does a google search for your professor not show up anything except what seems to be random websites talking about this 'case' and generally voicing their support for you...

where is this professor's home page? Where is her university existence?

Usually when you go on google and type an academic's name you immediately get hits for their home site.....

A good idea is to sit with pen and paper and meticulously write down everything you have or have not achieved over these days. Like : XXX number of words written. YYY read by sup. Or task B not done.

You ll feel loads better after that!

around when can one expect to have a firm idea of one's theoretical/conceptual framework?

Also, how many scholars can one usually comfortably juggle with in this?
