Is it possible to get help outside your dept? Not sure how it works at other universities, but at mine, the first place to complain is within the dept, but if that doesn't help, we can complain outside the dept to a group that oversees all postgraduate students. They might be more less likely to take sides because they don't know you or your supervisor. Good luck.

LOL @ aliby!!! Reminds me of the time my friend bought a new quadbike and couldn't work out why it wouldn't start. After much swearing and threatening to do various painful things to the salesman, decided to read the manual and discovered you had to be sitting on the seat for it to start! Tee hee.

Today I am getting mad at the NCBI website. Could they make the accession number system any more complicated if they tried?
