I know that feeling, I love that feeling. When I get colonies on my transformation plates, bands on my PCR gel, lots of ACGT's in my sequencing...all wonderful, beautiful things that make your heart glad you started your PhD. If I could sing, I would. Hugs and kisses to the world!!!!

I can appreciate your anguish. Few years ago, I developed dermatitis on my face - never had it before in my life before and it was bad. I started to look like a lumpy-faced teenager. Not very pretty on a 25 year old woman! Went to doctor, got standard treatments, should be all solved. Problem: low percentage of people react to the standard medication, causing the dermatitis to clear in the short term, but be exacerbated in the long term. Result: problem got 10 times worse. Finally, referral and 3 month waiting for an appointment to see top dermatologist, my hero, who took one look and said, stop using that other stuff, use this stuff instead. All gone in 1 month, never to be seen again.

My advice, if you have not done so already, go see an expert.

HappyDays, my sister will be relieved to hear that coffee has that effect on you! She always thinks there is something wrong with her digestive tract where coffee at one end causes action at the other. I will pass on the good news that she is not alone!

I was on holidays for a week and since I have been back, there has been no word from H. I know Sylvester and DanB asked to be banned, but why did H leave too? And Tricky? And 401? And thecoastman? Did I miss something big on the forum? Just a brief overview of what happened would be great. Please? I liked H. She was friendly.

Excuse this self-indulgent post, but I would like to update hillyg, my new favourite forum member who gave me a kick in the pants and helped me get out of a terrible writing slump, on how my writing is going.

hillyg, I talked to my supervisor and confessed my problem (my name is Piglet and it has been 13 days since I wrote a word of my thesis) and together we agreed on a deadline (October 14) for the draft of my next chapter. It is achievable, but will require some dedication to my computer for the next 10 days. I will let you know how it goes. Thanks for your motivational post. You rock!
