Ok so I'll ask this guy out. Gotta start somewhere.

No I SO want to be with a medic.

Its a looong story. The thing was that he was english (half caste) and not indian like I. And I thought my parents would not accept him. The whole 3 years was a secret from my parents. Then I came to London, broke up from him, but still spoke to him everyday. Then two weeks ago I realised my mum was suspicious...so I told her the truth that I had a boyfriend but was now single. And she was SO understanding. And said she would have liked to have met him. So I was kicking myself. And was realsiing I still love him and wanted him back, and then last week he told me he's now just starting to date someone else. And wouldn't give us a second chance even though now my mum says she would have been happy with him. So there you go. I need to find someone else. Lol I'm only 21...my first heartbreak! get the violins out!

Hey guys...I've recently ended a 3 year relationship (5 months ago)with a guy whos now doing medicine.

I want to try and find someone else. There is a postdoc guy who seemed interested in me when I met him a couple of weeks ago. He works in a different building to me. How do I ask him out?? Should I email him or go and find him in the place he works? I feel like I have to learn all the rules of how to be single all over again!

I know this is such a random post! ARG.

There is an antibody I would like to use....c-19 (against p35). I printed off datasheet but it doesnt mention how to use for IHC...my supervisor mentioned something about you should dilute the concentration needed for WB by 100 (I think) to get a rough idea of how much to use for the IHC.

I'm a bit new to IHC optimising etc, so any advice peeps?

Thing is that I want to be an academic medic. I don't know whether there is any possibility of me getting a similarly good PhD like this after doing medicine, or what my chances are of a good neurology post if I do medicine afterwards. Its all complicated. But I'm going to see careers advisor on Tuesday.

I have been offered a PhD here b my current MSc project supervisor. However, we will have to apply for funding and grants and that will take a number of months and I may not get a decision until Jan 08.

findind a job after phd would probably similarly difficult as after the mres. I would maybe go get some career advice from a careers centre. they would have better detailed information for you.

Guys I was just wondering, do you have to have a suitable reason for doing the PhD part time. i.e. kids/job?

I think yes it is required to pass an english exam. You need to find the PhDs you want first, and the unis you want to apply to. Go to the sister website findaphd.com and search for the PhD you want. Then send an application enquiry with a CV (note that the cv should have RELEVANT information wuch as relevant work experience). Alternatively, you could email the supervisors directly.
