I've never had any of these kinds of hings happen o me. But I have once thought the same though as someone else. I was in my room in my house on MSN.My boyf lived a few houses down and he was also online. Suddenly I though 'he plays for rugby' for no apparent reason-I was just doing my coursework and not thinking about rugby myself and I dont even like rugby. ut then I decided to ask david whether he was thinking 'he plays for rugby' and he was. He said he was looking at a rugby website and got all spooked thinking I was in the room lol.

ULUG is your PhD hard because of the topic and reading or lab work?

Thank you. I feel that its difficult because I sometimes feel like I have to impress the academics here. I have three supervisors for my research project, and they're all medical grads from oxbridge. So all the neurologists here are really amazing, and I feel like I should be a mini-them to make a good impression, and also to make sure that I get along with them well to make sure I can get a good reference from them. There are people on my course who are qualified doctors, and they work really hard and I think here reputation is important. I don't want to be seen by the academics and lecturers as one of those who don't bother so much, appear stressed out etc.


But I suppose like you say, this outlook can also be counter productive. I can't get too caught up in social politics, because that will give me uneccessary stress!

I only wanted an idea of other peoples experiences. I'm not going to base my entire studying on other peoples methods. It is different for everyone I know. I am going to work my hardest, and try to balance applications, ther issues etc with the course. ut the course comes first.

How many hours a day did you work to get a distinction in MSc? Did you keep on top of all your reading throughout the course? Did you learn every topic? Did write lots of essays?

Hmm yeah, we're such losers, but at least we're not alone lol. This is the first time I've sat down to do some proper work for a few weeks now!

If anyone has used both programs and then decided which one is easier let me know. Ta!

Heya, I thought you would ask.. I thought it was ok at the time, but now being in UCL.....making a comparison is easy! I'm studying in the nations centre for neurology so the researchers here, and the doctors are top notch. And there is an amazing amount of help that is also somehow not spoonfed either, and there are loads of grad courses for developing skills.

Spose I'm still bitter about getting 2.1 in my proj lol! Hm.

Did you happen to watch 'the brain hospital' on BBC 1 a few weeks back? Thats where I study! Its famous!

Lol anyway. How is the lab work? Who are your supervisors?

Yeah I might go for it. Worth a shot, there are a few I have my eye on. What are the interviews like? Do you reccommend applying to other universities also?

I'm did BSc Neuroscience at Leeds, a really crap course with crap teaching and marking. Now I'm doing an MSc in Clinical Neuroscience at UCL Institute of Neurology. Will Cambridge be impressed by this? The MSc is competitive to get into, and the research group I'm working with for my project is exceptionall competitve too.

Do any of the Cambridge PhD students have a 2.1? I would like to study here but I only have a high 2.1 and current MSc. Their entry requirment says 2.1 or above but that could be just what they say?
