Ok Coastman, serious word associations from now on. It is a postgrad forum, after all.

Habits.

I meant the body-less man worked for me - a good day's work all round. Shame about the PhD though...

Yes I should too!!

Nice earrings, not sure about the hair/hat though, after your previous gems! Any more...?

And the one before that reminds me of that man in Mud (70s pop group) who used to wear wide floppy flared trousers and massive earrings.

Hmmm, there's a bit of a beehive going on there, or a Georgian wig or a Bet Lynch look!

Hello!

Lara, hope you're up and about now, with your upside down working hours, and that chapter 5's whizzing along nicely today!

Sheena, good luck with your results section today.

Armendaf, all you can do is prepare as much as you can today, to give a realistic idea of what work's remaining and see what he says. Hope your meeting goes ok tomorrow, and you can decide on a Plan B between you both, if imminent submission isn't an option. Good luck with it today anyway, let us know how you get on.

I'm having a coffee break at work now, so just popped over to see how you're getting on. I've been thwarted by annoying things all day but there you go. That is life. The positive side of work being a bit frustrating sometimes is that it increases my determination to get on with my Phd and finish it ASAP!!! Oooh I could never be a fulltime student, it would drive me mad - half job, half PhD suits me ok for a bit of variety.

Hope you all have a productive rest of day.

I was thinking more Leffe or the Trappist monk stuff, though it's a bit strong for me.

I love them, 404 - both styles suit you nicely.

University Ranking Tables
R

======= Date Modified 18 Sep 2008 11:06:22 =======

Quote From kipo:

dont you get curious to see how your university is doing compared to other unis..?..

There isn't much point in thinking about it too much in the short term, if you're already studying somewhere.

You can either:

1. Feel smug that you're at a high ranking uni and your experience reflects that.

2. Get depressed because you're at a lower ranked institution, everything really is crap, but you're stuck there for the time being.

3. Be amazed at the huge discrepancy between the official ranking tables and your own experience of the place, in which case the whole ranking system seems completely bizarre and not terribly useful - see Bonzo's comments earlier.

Lara, not that strict - there are limits!!! Some bodily functions shouldn't be ignored! Great that you've done so much today - so chapter 4 is nearly all done and ticked off, well done, another step nearer The End! Good luck with the rest tonight.

Armendaf, I hope you're feeling a bit perkier today, there are so many ups and downs in this PhD business, aren't there.

Pari, how have your cakes turned out?

Sorry I didn't write anything earlier, I felt a bit cheeky popping in from work, so to speak. It was completely madly busy there, but that's not surprising really. Quite nice news on the PhD front, apparently they liked my pics for that exhibition and they're giving me extra space for it. Interesting to see which ones went down well!

I'm knackered and I'm off tonight, but good luck with your work, those of you still glued to the computer.

Belgian. Or German.

Not that weird, Coastman! I open the window when it's muggy in the hope of a bit of a breeze.
