If you have applied to www.findaphd you will not get a response because it is just a website with all the courses on and not infact a university! In order to get the information you need you mucst find a course you like then contact the university using the 'tel enquires' button on the gold bar along the top of the course info or email using the 'send application enquiry' at the bottom of the course info and NOT 'contact us' blue side panel bar! I hope this helps

Good luck!

Do we have it too easy??
S

I think if your upset or offened you need to take a step back and take a breath. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and one should be carful about wording and consider the audince, and think how you would feel if you where to read that about your subject area!
However I don't think it's meant to be personal its just a view point and it's up to you how yu take it and weather you accept it into your life or not! Just igonore the comments you don't like andtry not to get oo caught up defending your subject/lifestyle/choices, you don't have to answer to anyone or defend yourslef either!

Thinking of quitting before I've even started
S

Well..you could give it a try and see how you get on, you might enjoy it! I'd suggest making an action plan so if you don't like it you know where you are going and what you might be doing and then look at if you could do that long term! don't just jump into something to get out of your current situation!
Good luck xx

long distance relationships?
S

I had a Long distance relationship for 1 and 1/2 yrs it is tough but we where able to see each other once month for a week or so! However bare it mind it's only for 6 months, that's not that long really in the grand scheme of things.
I'd say being open and honest with each other about how your both feeling is a good way of staying strong. It's no good one of you saying 'I'm too busy but I'll talk later, is that OK?'  and the other saying 'yes' but really meaning 'no'
I agree there's no need to feel guilty about following your career ambitions and furthering yourself, if your relationship is going to last you both need to understand and support each other!

Good luck x

Hi
i agree with Sue. Don't stay where you're not happy! It's tough making decisions like this. i left my undergrad degree after a year because i was upset all the time and withdrawn (and that's not me)! It was the hardest thing to do, harder then staying! I worried about letting people down, my parents, friends I'd made and myself! But now i have a job and study part-time. and I'm so much happier!
You should be happy in everything you do, although it's only a finite amount of time, you also only get one life and it's short! So unless you need this for your future and its imperative in this subject you could re-evaluate apply for others, look at different options, just look around and see what else is out there! More then anything make sure you're doing what YOU want to be doing. xx

Who's doing the weirdest PhD?
S

ok how about a PhD that's least academic! not in Humanities or English etc unless its a PhD on famous dictator mustaches through time!! and loosely based on something academic!
