hi navii86sharma
There are lots of places to look--I'm not in your area so I don't know much about IT stuff.
However--if you just go to findaphd.com or go to the jobs.ac.uk website and look under "phd" you might find something that is suitable for you. Also put your email address on mailing list for openings you'll be more motivated.
Alternatively you could look at job advertisements that will lead you to a phd.

Thank you for your post--and welcome to the forum :-)
Your current proposed topic "Impact of Islam on Socio-cultural Life of Medieval Kashmir", does that look at Islamic life during medieval times? Can I ask, if that is so, why have you choose medieval?
How about the impact of Islam on socio-cultural life in the 21st century--and then maybe look at different countries--from moderate Islamic state to extremist to liberalist etc.
Or Islam in a communist country? Or look at the progression the impact of Islam in another country, for example Germany---pre WWII, during WWII, post WWII.. etc.
the sky is the limit :-)
enjoy your research

hi Pineapple30
great news! thanks for sharing! I haven't received the same interview panel before--so I can't give you any advice from experience--
but--do you think it would help if you tried to remember the stuff that you went through during the 1st interview--
--and sort of make it better for the 2nd one based on that?
I hope you get the post :-)

hi ShahSeville,
I'm not a Stats guru but hope this helps--
if I'm not mistaken, you can add up the 5 questions (assuming it is 5 questions to ONE item), and then divide by 5. Then just run descriptives again you will get one mean and one SD.
maybe someone else can help as well. Anybody? :-)

hi wowzers WOW you are like a massive FOUNTAIN of resource :-)
thank you for your suggestions. I've actually had to write down what you've posted (besides printing out this thread for myself as a reminder!), it helps keep me organised.
Hi JanineG
are you still looking for phds, don't give up. Have you tried recruitment agencies for temp jobs? I'm sure someone will contact you soon for a job or phd interview **Fingers crossed**
does anyone have any idea how long employers give a successful employee to accept the job offer? For example--if you had your interview on 25th May, and they offered you the post on say 28th May. So how long would it take for the applicant to think about it?
thanks

hi GeneNat
I use Word for journal manuscript and LaTeX for thesis! LaTeX is easier because you decide where you want things to be, not the programme!
The easiest (and most painless) way is to use a phd template. I say "pain" because if you are new to LaTeX--and you have a problem, there might be some difficulty in getting help for it (if none of your colleagues use it) and if you're new to the online LaTeX community, it takes a while to learn their lingo.
You need to read up the basics, that's what I did. The first 2 weeks were very difficult for me (maybe I'm stupid etc.) to learn LaTeX but now it is much better and very very convenient. Please try it!
You can change the citation format. You have to see your .cls and .sty file. I think I'm not explaining it clearly, I've only used it for about 3 years. Still new. But it loads very fast, and you get to be in charge!
good luck

I watched a lovely youtube video about a young lady's life which I found really sweet and touching. Maybe you've already seen it! After that I also looked at her make-up videos. I was so amazed at how creative she was. I might just try her tip of curling eye lashes with a spoon. I've always wanted to write my own reviews of cosmetics--but I'm nowhere close to all the wonderful make up gurus on youtube!
Never mind.
I also found out today--that I have hooded eyes--that go downwards?!!
anyway---I downloaded a paper sent to me (thank you Pootle!!!!) so today I will read it after breakfast--then go through my thesis again--I have a meeting with my supervisor on Friday--I'm really looking forward to it---and perhaps later today, I'll try the new make-up techniques I watched earlier this morning.
have a good one people!

hi wowzers
thanks for this! its great advice. Come to think of it, I have only applied to universities!!!
I haven't looked enough at job adverts at public bodies etc. What I have seen so far are ads for professional/IT/managerial work which I don't seem to be able to apply for.
I haven't joined a recruitment agency yet, that is something I'll have to look into.
thanks again :-)

hi Swetccha
Thanks for posting! I've only sent my CV when I applied for jobs (and that is to people I don't exactly know), does that answer your question :-) People are saying we should make informal enquires (there is another thread on this somewhere). I found that when making informal enquiries, it doesn't really guarantee anything--but it makes me feel good to some extent.
I find it difficult to upload my CV for speculative job applications because when CVs can be changed--so what I write doesn't seem to be universal for everything. Has anyone uploaded their CVs like that? For example--you put it on a university job website in case openings come up.

Supported Employment for People with Intellectual Disability: The Effects of Job Breakdown on Psychological Well-Being
hi Swetchha
can I ask you--did you also apply for jobs that were not advertised--like contacting a company etc?
I make a list of the applications I've sent in, together with the deadline
and then I just cross them out when I receive a reply.
Personally I think it is kinder if they would just reply back and say NO thanks we don't want you, instead of not replying at all. People say it's because there are hundreds of applicants--and companies have no time--but really I think it is a matter of courtesy because real people sent in job applications, not a bunch of virus.
I think getting job rejection letters is easier for me to handle now. Better to come before interview, than after.
thanks for your post
