This is a good section in a nice book on sample sizes for qualitative research...

Have accepted a PhD studentship but now don't know whether to turn it down, please help!
S

hi HelenaF
welcome to the forum!
you accepted this phd offer, right? are you hesitant to actually start?

some people actually accept phd offers, stick it out (for a bit) and either go on or stop. It happens.

but don't worry about letting your prospective supervisor down or that he may get in touch with your referees and damage your future references; don't worry about this.

I think the question you should ask yourself now is "would you like to try the phd" (since you have already accepted)
yes or no; and go from there

remember that people do quit or change topics in their phds and sometimes people do find that they enjoy their phd after all
its all out there for you to explore
good luck

paper help please
S

hi everyone! after posting earlier, I went to print out the paper (not saying which one :p haha) that I desperately needed to read; then I went to the lab, when I finished, I went to buy groceries; and now I'm back!

I would like to add also, having read the posts; that my supervisor did call me to his office one day; he had acquired a book through inter-library-loan which was not available in our library; he told me to quickly go and photocopy one chapter which he said would help me. After that I was to pass the book to another student. So obviously the license was not paid by the university.

....maybe I should tell my professor to pack flip flops and rations too.....

I have had great help from people here and I appreciate it so much.

Help
S

I know someone who did a phd in ONE YEAR; but this guy already had a phd and needed the next phd as a qualification.
The 2nd phd was not funded (because this person already had his own funding/career).

but keep looking, who knows you might just find what you need.

comparative analysis meaning
S

hi its satchi again
please can someone clarify with me:

repeated measures ANOVA is a form of comparative analysis, is this correct?
is multiple regression also a form of comparative analysis?
when we use the term "comparative analysis" what does it exactly mean?

thanks very much
