hi sneaks its satchi; have you seen this one

Twin sisters were on the verge of turning one hundred years old.
The editor of the local newspaper told a photographer to get over there and take pictures of the two 100 year old twins.
One of the twins was hard of hearing and the other could hear quite well.

Once the photographer arrived he asked the sisters to sit on the sofa.

The deaf sister said to her twin, “WHAT DID HE SAY?”

“WE GOTTA SIT OVER THERE ON THE SOFA!”, said the other.

“Now get a little closer together,” said the cameraman.

Again, “WHAT DID HE SAY?”

“HE SAYS SQUEEZE TOGETHER A LITTLE.”

So they wiggled up close to each other.

“Just hold on for a bit longer, I’ve got to focus a little,” said the photographer.

Yet again, “WHAT DID HE SAY?”

“HE SAYS HE’S GONNA FOCUS!”

With a big grin the deaf twin shouted out, “OH MY – BOTH OF US?”

hi! I've just received an email saying:
1. when answering the cellphone, use the LEFT ear
2. when the battery is down the the LAST grid/bar, do not answer the phone as the radiation is 1000 times.

What do you think about it? is there any truth in this.
thanks satchi

Excuses, excuses

hi Badgerspy
From your post, it reads like you would feel a lot better if you had a chance to explain yourself to your supervisor.
But if he has made it clear that he cannot give you any non-academic support, perhaps it is better that you spare him the details.

However you are not a robot--and everybody has personal matters! :-)
I think its ok to just submit your work with a Sorry this is late, and perhaps add that you had some personal matters to deal with. No need to elaborate.

one possibly for the scientists, but others can answer too!
S

hi joyce this is a nice question but I dont have a nice answer :-) :-) :-)
I studied science because I was goaded into it. As children we were somewhat "told" that Science and Mathematics were superior to Arts subjects; Where I come from, we were all brainwashed into the Science stream. HAHAHA

hi sneaks its satchi
I wanted to show you this:

A woman goes into a store to buy a fishing rod and reel for her Grandson’s birthday.
She doesn’t know which one to get, so she just grabs one and goes over to the counter.

The salesman is standing there, wearing dark glasses.
She says, Excuse me. Can you tell me anything about this rod and reel?’
He says, ‘Madam, I’m completely blind but, if you’ll drop it on the counter, I can tell you everything you need to know about it from the sound it makes.’
She doesn’t believe him but drops it on the counter anyway.
He says, ‘That’s a two meter Shakespeare graphite rod with a Zebco 404 reel and 5-kg test line. It’s a good all around combination, and it’s on sale this week for $44.’
She says, ‘It’s amazing that you can tell all that just by the sound of it dropping on the counter. I’ll take it!’
As she opens her purse, her credit card drops on the floor.
‘Oh, That sounds like a Visa card’, says the salesman.
As the lady bends down to pick up the card, she accidentally farts.
At first she is really embarrassed but then realizes there is no way the Blind salesman could tell it was she who had farted.
The salesman rings up the sale and says, ‘That will be $58.50 please.’
The woman is totally confused by this and asks, ‘Didn’t You tell me it was on sale for $44? How did you get to $58.50?’
He says, ‘The Duck Caller is $11 and the Fish Bait is $3.50.’

hi sneaks this is a good question!
As for your postdoc position or lectureship; I encourage you to go all out for it!!!
And remember to post us the good news :-) :-) :-)

As for me, I havent really thought about what kind of salary to expect after this phd :-)
I might join in my friend's business; at this point I'm just not sure yet. I guess it all depends nearer to the time when I'm almost submitting; I should have some clearer idea what to do or where to go from there by then :-)

but I hope you get a big salary xxxx

Other times are when I'm doing something else; like cooking or walking or shopping! THey just pop up in my head.

thanks for the compliment :-) xxxx
I find it relaxing, when the telly is on--I can switch back and forth; when I am writing, when I look away from the computer (to the telly) and see something funny/stupid/annoying; and then go back to writing.

When I am alone (and writing), I like it either silent (no people talking) or noise (from the telly)
:-) :-) :-)

your UNBELIEVABLE write-up Stories please!!
S

hi 404!!!
I dont have any fantastic write-up stories :-) but heres what I do sometimes when I am writing.
Sounds silly but it usually works, but only for SATURDAYs

When I need to write I turn on the telly (the annoying channel that shows all the silly youtube clips and music videos--gosh I don't even know what channel it is!!!). I let it run and then I sit and I do my writing---by afternoon I get lots done!!!
