I need some advice on which electricity company to go on direct debit with.
Everytime I hear from their representative, they tell me the same thing, "we are the cheapest, we give best rates, discount etc"

The problem is me, its like I cannot process the information they give me. I'm still not paying direct debit now (to Npower), long story why I chose not to pay direct debit.

which company should I switch to, or stay with Npower but go on direct debit? I also dont know how to see my electricity bill. My flat runs on electricity (also for heating) and I pay something like £142 for winter quarterly, and my last bill was £86 quarterly.

hi elindis! its not a stupid question at all! if the project parameters are already outlined, you still have to write the research proposal following these outlines and include anything else that would contribute to the project.
Another thing you can do is write to your potential supervisor and ask him! (this is what I did)

We also can't be googling answers for you, you need to start looking by yourself.

First, look for universities which offer distance learning.
Look at the postgrad section and see if they have what you want.

hi Teek, sorry to hear that your mood is down. I hope you feel better today. I definitely understand what you mean; I have been depressed off and on; I wasn't sure if it was PMS or the phd or England or the dark skies etc.etc.

Heres a strange thing though--whenever I get depressed, I go to my office and I feel better there!!! Even if I'm not doing any work. I think it could be the light. At home I don't open the curtains, all the windows are closed, the shades are closed, everything is always locked. This is because my home was burgled last year; I think I have got over it but still, I am afraid to open the curtains lest people look inside and see that I have a new computer at home etc. etc. Paranoid paranoid paranoid.

Last year a couple of teenagers also sneered at me and called me names. After that I became afraid of teenagers on the streets (lads on bicycles, lads in the park, you name it) and would take great trouble avoiding them (walk longer etc.). Now I am not afraid of them anymore.

Another thing I do when I am depressed is, I leave the house and walk a bit. Maybe its the exercise :-) .

If you feel low and you don't do anything (you stay the same as you were), you are likely to continue feeling bad or get worse. So try your best to do something else when your mood is low.

I also like to dress up whenever I feel depressed. I put a new lipstick or curl/straighten my hair, this somehow brightens my mood.

As others have posted, do get some help; see a counsellor etc.

hi As21462; sorry I cant give you much advice; I've had this problem before but fortunately there was plenty of time (and leftover material) to run the experiments again and make changes to the data. The best person to advise you would be your supervisor. You still have 9 days (if you dont count tomorrow's Easter monday); how about sending an SOS text or email to your supervisor. Good luck

If your parents have offered, I think its wonderful, why don't you say yes thank you, and do your best and make them proud? Don't feel guilty; education to a child (no matter how old you are) is a gift and duty of a parent. Of course not every parent can afford it; but still you dont have to feel guilty taking help from your parents as long as you go all out for this phd :-) when you are financially better off, you can ask them to send you less money or stop :-)

If there is a way to allow you better concentration and focus on the phd, why dont you take it.
To always be a good daughter, just continue loving your parents and do whatever good deeds you can for them and for society.
