I suppose I like sleeping because it gets me away from the problem for a while (plus I'm snuggled up in a comfy duvet)

I have a really bad habit of falling asleep when I get stressed; as soon as things start going wrong, all I want to do it go nap for a while and get away from it

I say nap - doesn't sound like you're acheiving much being so tired

My friend had her little un in the middle of a funded programme and treated it as if she had preggers whilst in a job. She has gone down to PT, but has received no extention in her funding though

I work P/T (four days a week)

I try and get a couple of hours done a day on the days I work and between 5-6 hours on two of the days I have off (usually I try and have one day off, but if I'm a good girl I'll work for a couple of hours then too)

So overall, I probably get around 20 hours of work done a week as a PT student (saying that, I have some weeks of complete writer's block and don't do ANYTHING!)

Would you consider taking a year or two out before the PhD? My friend has just had her second baby and say it has been disruptive to her PhD - the other kid isn't much trouble because he's old enough to go to nursery so she used to get some time to herself

Basically I'm applying for a job organising/publicising training and support for international PhD students (including EU). I need to show an understanding of issues relating to 'international' and 'eu' students and wanted to make sure I knew what I was talking about!

Any problems gaining the training you need for a PhD? What sort of training would you be interested in?

What are your needs as a PhD international student and what do you think your unviersity could do to make things better/easier for you? What are the problems you've encountered, if any?
