I think what your sup is looking for (like Bug, I can't know without having read it) is a greater tie in of your chosen epistomological/ontological/methodological position with the problem you are looking at and what methods you intend to use. From what I gather, your sup thinks you've been focusing too much on the methods and not enough on why you are using the particular methods.....at a guess.

Okay, I finally joined mytomatoes after seeing it mentioned here and I would (during my 5 minute break) like to celebrate my 4th tomato. I'm appauling with time management and this really seems to help because it's not that long and, most importantly, it includes every type of work you do (I've tried doing it in terms of how much I've written, how many articles to read....doesn't work.)

Also, for my fellow Pomodorians, I was wondering if it keeps a running total for the year? If so, how many total tomatoes are people on?

Superman: There's an option when creating a reference to attach a file quite near the bottom. You can also right click on an existing reference and go to File Attachments>Attach a new file (there's also the option of opening the file from here.) To open, there's a big file icon on the toolbar - next to Open Link.

I download the PDFs of all the journal articles I read. If there's something I can't remember where I read it, I use the Acrobat search feature to search across my PDFs for the idea (they're all in the same folder, so I select that as where it should search.) Also, Google Scholar is quite handy for re-researching things - try to reconstruct the phrase and bung it in.

Sheffield is really a very very nice place. Based solely on that fact, I would go there.

Although to be honest mate, I wouldn't worry about it until you've got some funding on the table.

27. Complete PhD

Being addicted to a series of books is good! I love when you're so into a certain series and the reading just flows and time doesn't matter. Plus, Twilight is only 4 (?) books and Harry Potter is only 7. You have a real problem when you get addicted to something like Sharpe or Discworld.

Best thing I ever got addicted to was Peter F. Hamilton's Night's Dawn trilogy. Trashy Sci-Fi Space Opera stuff, but these were three chunky fucking books totalling a million words (fair play to the lad, I've just written a thousand in a week.) It was a great three weeks, apart from the last book which my brother had dropped in the bath and was now twice the size - I got cramp in my thumb from t=reading the bugger.

I always consider myself a book addict, but I do know a proper one. A friend of my parents used to spend all of his family's money on books, to the extent that it really caused problems in the relationship and they had to reinforce the floors on the first floor so that the bookshelves wouldn't break through. Sadly, this is a true story that, in real life, has a happy ending. He spent more time going to the library.

I'm sorry if this random collection of stories makes little or no sense. I'm very very tired.

I'm going to guess that dropping out simplifies life somewhat. Maybe even gives you the chance to succeed.

Streaming American TV shows through a Turkish website. Currently watching Dexter series 3. his has had a strange impact on facebook, as it now thinks I'm Turkish.

Also, does drinking alone count? Few beers, music on headphones and gazing out of the window with the lights turned off (to reduce glare.)

If undergrads are no good....How about trawling for some Master's action? Who knows, you could even inspire them to follow you down the road to Doctordum.
