Goal 1: Submit article to journal

sup still hasn't called yet :-(

Hang in there Emaa, I think I'm in the same situation, it all goes so slowly! but I'm sure it will get better :-)

having issues with sup changing wording, its already been pulled up by a journal for being too 'strong' i.e. I say "we discuss the results in terms of how they MAY be related to xyz' and she changes it to 'the results show that xyz' - how do I say she's wrong!? even a top level journal review has come back saying the same thing, yet she has done it again!

sounds very much like what I did when I was an RA, although it does sound like more than 20 hours work.

physical exhaustion--tears?!

I'm not exactly a fitness fanatic. Could it be low blood sugar? causing you to go 'all emotional'. Maybe you should try eating a few jaffa cakes (I heard they're supposed to be good enery food before exercise) beforehand?

its more of a 'gain insight' kind of sentence. I like 'shed light' but scared its not academic enough.?????????????????????

have no idea, but it might be worth searching academia.edu or similar to find researchers in the same area and asking them??

endnote question
Avatar for sneaks

You'll probably just have to mess around with the output styles and create your own 'Pomaxey output style' but you uni/department probably has guidelines you need to stick to with your references e.g. APA, harvard etc.

Also, you'll probably use the same reference across different chapters, meaning you will be unnecessarily repeating references.

I keep saying to myself I'll be done by xmas, but at this rate - there is NO chance. I'm stuck doing work I don't like cos sup wants it done, but I really want to get on to another chapter. ALthough grass is always greener I suppose, I'll start that and wish I was back doing the work I'm doing (well trying to do) today.

I'm going through a major blip at the moment. Can't seem to get ANY work done. I'm hoping today will be better, but i'm not too confident. Just spent 1 hr paying off council tax, gas bill etc etc.

Now...

Goal 1: write out chart

Would this be an unbalanced design?
Avatar for sneaks

I'd say option 2, because the researchers are actually using gender to analyse the data, rather than just ignoring it.

Although, I recently found a load of stuff saying that to be 'truely unbalanced' it would have to be more like one sample being 2.5 times larger than the other. I guess it depends how big your samples are too though as to whether it affects the analysis.

theoretical review question
Avatar for sneaks

Aw thanks Wal, I downloaded a trial of x4 earlier and then in my own bumbly way tried to download a dodgy copy off a file share site, but now I don't really know what I'm doing, it wn't copy and paste over. I'll get hubby to see if he can sort it when he's back tonight, and if not I might have to ask you to put it online for me :$ but don't do it yet! I may have sorted it myself (Although I doubt it!)

Otherwise - can you transfer endnote stuff to a free one? like mendely or something and it still keep all your existing word files with refs etc. in? or am I asking the impossible?

theoretical review question

Yep three different studies, but I'm hoping they come from the same perspective (well I'm going to argue they do in any case), in terms of how I'm treating the participant group.

I doubt I'll get away with it as a separate chapter - my sup doesn't want me to do it BUT because she has no idea about this participant group, she doesn't realise that its a huge issue and I think I could be ripped apart in the viva for not having a section, or at least an idea, of where I'm coming from as opposed to other approaches.

Yes please Wal, if that's ok? Don't suppose you have a copy of endnote x4 too? :$
