Well the dreaded request for the data has come in, but I have until the end of the month! But I foresee her wanting reports BEFORE that date so she can read through and then we can talk about them, so need to get this done ASAP.

I've done 1, with the use of 4 tomatoes.

Looks like everyone else was super productive at the weekend! (up) I spent all weekend getting my husband to realise that if he actually did just 1hr a week on his PhD he could get it done, as he was saying he doesn't see the point and was going to just leave it and not bother even trying to do his viva - after 3 years of work!?

My Big goal = Do as many analyses as possible before sup finds out they're not finished! Argh!

Ev, have a break - its very important. And to your '8 months in' - PAH! I completely wrote off my ENTIRE 2nd year sitting in front of the tv all day - and that is NO exaggeration!

analysis of qualitative data
Avatar for sneaks

I can't really see any ethical issues, unless I've misunderstood your post. As long as the method section in the paper reflects accuraltey the process they have gone through then that's fine. Now whether the reviewers will think that process is suitable is another question. However, 'expert views' are often used in qualitative analysis, although often to guide a more detailed analysis i.e. you may ask subject matter experts to identify salient themes, and then these would be built on with a wider range of themes.

I put £2 on snowy morning - I liked the name because i like snow :p

I have also put £1 on the lib dems winning the election, it was about 301/1 so if they did I'd get £300 woop woop! I know its unlikely :-s I also put £1 on his team winning today, but if they do I only get 36p back haha, well £1.36.

I have to be quite careful with this though. I have a william hill online account and I have to be very strict with myself. Hubby actually banned me at one point, I get quite addicted to gambling.

That's rubbish Ev! - much chocolate necessary. hubs has gone off to go to the football, and I've eaten his easter egg in return (up)

I was going to do loads of work today, but so far just walked the dog, watched true blood and eaten the easter egg with tea.

Had 2 emails from sup this morning - I personally think she shouldn't send emails at the weekend cos it makes me feel like i MUST be doing work. Its the weekend! But anyhow, I am going to try and get at least one analysis done today.

i've got a bit of a headache though and the dog is looking a bit annoyed because its so sunny outside.

yeah, all the lectureships are in London, so have london weighting, whcih I desparately need considering the cost of transport. I think the girl I know - she is a lecturer will have basic info about the post. There isn't a person spec which is wierd, on their website, it just links back to the job finding website advert. It is a university that is known for only their course in my field to people who have had a lot of experience, so I'm guessing they want their lecturers to be more or at least as experienced as their students. THeir advert says they want PhD, publication record etc etc and that significant work exp would be an advantage.

I think you are right though - I will apply, although I think I will drop this girl an email first, I think it may be politically good to at least give her a heads up.

How long should I wait...?

Ok I've completed 3/5 But I'm starting to get sloppy with it and am making mistakes. I'm going to stop for today. I MIGHT try and start another tonight after an hour or two away from it - probably depends on whether hubs finds football/cricket on tv :-s

Thanks BatFink (really think you should lobby mods for some bat wings)

I think I've decided on a course of action. There is a lectureship on a popular academic jobs site (although I advocate using findapostdoc.com 8-) ) The advert, and the calibre of the existing staff suggest they want someone with a bit more experience of living in general - i.e. work expereince BEFORE the PhD. However, I know a junior lecturer pretty well from there. So my plan is to email and say "have you got any posts coming up? part time or full time? I've seen the lecturer post, although I assume you're looking for someone a little more senior than me..." and see what comes back. That way, I'll know a) if they have any other jobs coming up b) if I'm suitable for lectureship and c) they'll keep me in mind for any other work, even part time work! (up)

Whatdya think?

No motivation to work today :(

:-s very jealous. Wish I had a horse, and that I could ride it :-(

Maybe I should go on the dole after my PhD and spend all my time on my (newly purchased, with end of stipend) horse riding it around the streets of my local town.
