I never use mean-centred scores, I think its a form of transformation and would therefore only use them if my data is non-normal. I would assume if you do it to one variable then you should do it to them all (outcome AND predictor variables).

Anyone feel free to contradict me though!

I think they are often used to standardise the data.

Have you noticed that reapplying vaseline or ANY lip balm makes you completely dependent on it and makes your lips crack even more?? Disgusting. What a scam..

I suffer from this exact predicament. :-(

Hi, I'm Jinkim and I'm addicted to lipbalm.

try vitamin E lip balm from the body shop - it is the only one i have found that hasn't done this.

ew I hate people wearing flip flops in london - its sooo dirty here! My friend also got caught on an escalater because her flip flops flipped and got stuck! i can't walk in them, I tend to wear trainers all year round. I've got my eye on some really colourful hi-tops!

the negative b values just show you the relationship of the predictors.

The b value means for every unit change in the outcome, then the beta value changes by X units - so you won't change a negative to a positive, its like correlation, it signifies the direction of the relationship. Standardised beta values show the same thing but in standard deviations.

for every predictor you add into the model, you need 10-15 participants/cases so for 5 predictors you need 50-75 cases, otherwise you will be losing power.

I do own a pair of uggs :$ although I would like to clarify that a) I don't wear my jeans tucked into them b) I don't walk sloppily in them - they haven't 'collapsed' like I see some girls have c) I only wear them because i can't wear a heel of any height because of my back and I also can't wear pumps so they are the most non-butch lesbian type shoes I could find. Although I tend to wear trainers 99% of the time.

Has anyone noticed that you can't buy proper english sandwiches anymore? I love the old favourites e.g.. cheese and tomato and you can't find them anywhere, its all crayfish and lemongrass and masses of red onions and when you find something that resembles it its got some posh mayonnaise or horseradish in it :-(

I would love to get away with the 'sexy just out of bed' look, but I think it must take hours to get right and i haven't got that much time!

Well I took loads of painkillers last night, which meant i got an ok nights sleep but it makes me super sleepy in the morning and takes me a good 20 mins to shake them off. I haven't tested my back yet - it will affect my legs later I suspect.

I've got a REALLY big meeting today with all my sups, but I woke up with a horrible head cold, my neck is all swollen up and I tried to make tea for hubby and his breakfast but had really bad spells of nausea and dizziness, so I've emailed to say I can't go.I'm just hoping they go ahead with the meeting because its taken ages (like 3 months) to find a day when they are all free. Its basically for 1 sup to tell the other that i can't do any more of his work, and for him to see what else i have to do, so I don't really need to be there. I just feel really guilty now!

I'm supposed to have a really big meeting with all my sups today. Its took ages to get a date where everyone is free, and I have to go and ruin it all by being ill! I'm hoping they go ahead without me and have the meeting.

I've got a horrible head cold and feel really nauseous whenever I move - but feel really guilty for not going! :-(

Apparently one of his keepers was killed by a tiger :-(

Although to be fair to him he does have my dream job!

Showing emotion in front of your supervisor
Avatar for sneaks

I wish I could do this with my supervisor. Things would be so much simpler if I could cry to show how stressed I am, instead I end up saying "everythings fine!" and then I end up with no help, whereas my sups other supervisees get lots of special treatment because they cry.

I don't think I've ever cried in public because I am some kind of repressed English person! I am also known for my non-contact with others and I have a special greeting. I put my hand up in a 'hi' type wave - but it basically looks like a 'stop' hand signal, so it lets people know that I am not open for hugging or any physical contact!

is it just me or am I the only woman who does not have obviously dyed black 'stripper' style hair, an orange face or wear leggings, ugg boots and some kind of boho top? Surely when this fashion is so widespread then it is not fashionable any more?

well I have this 'independence' thing where I refuse to wait for other people to move things, cos it annoys me. I wonder whether that caused my bad back in the first place - I mean do normal people attempt to move wardrobes etc on their own or is that just me? Anyway, I often forget about my back and move stuff (or pick my dog up) and then it suddenly goes again. It always hurts but when it 'goes' it hurts really badly. I have a meeting tomorrow and not sure how I'm gonna make it there an back :-(

Quote From Natassia:

My pact at the moment is to try to ride my horse at least 5 days a week, at the moment I'm managing 4-5 days a week but want to be more consistent, I am bringing him back into work after an injury at the moment so he is on a fittening regime. I do find it difficult to make the time to ride him every day sometimes but feel so much better when I do. I want to do a bit of competing in the summer so need to sort him out quickly!
