hmm - I have noticed some quite handy guides on youtube that take you through step by step how to run various tests on SPSS.

As i say the chart in Andy field helps to narrow down what test. It sounds like you need to do an ANOVA of sorts, but depends on whether you have independent groups (male OR female) or you are giving the same group multiple conditions (time 1, time 2) or both!

There is no easy answer, reading the ANOVA chapters in andy field should help you narrow down which one is useful.

ah ha, done my none PhD work in less than 25 mins according to my tomatoe - urgh - hate veg, wish it was called 'my steak' or something!

I am totally lost with my PhD - no motivation and it doesn't seem like I ever do any work on it! I got up this morning, determined to work on it for the whole day... and I am met with an email from my sup about my non-PhD work which needs to be done today and will take about an hour! grrr. So today I need to get back into the swing of things. I have a deadline end of Jan to write a publication so today....

- non PhD work (1 hour max)
- look through my names of themes and possibly rename
- start writing results section of paper.

(I want the results section done by the end of this week!)

That will give me 1 week to write intro and discussion :-(

If you would like a veggie option, I can easily make one.....

I'm in the same situation. There are no jobs in my field at the mo and kinda wanted the PhD done in my 4th year rather than it carrying on for years and years. I have no idea what to do. We could just about survive on my husbands salary but not very well. We need at least £500 from me a month to pay for his travel into his work. It would be nice to earn £1000 a month to cover the mortgage, and this his salary can go on everything else. So I have no idea what to do. i think I could get a few days work at uni, but uni is 3 hours away and it would cost me more than its worth to travel. I can do some extra consultancy work, but not much which leaves me with local minimum wage stuff - which is going to look totally rubbish on my CV :-( Actually this whole issue is causing me so much stress at the mo!

For this kind of occassion I wouldn't wear jeans or a suit. Jeans are too casual and I never wear a suit - smacks too much of 'supermarket manager' for me. I would go with simple black/pinstripe trousers, nice shoes and a funky top - which is kinda smart. The kinda thing you see in the next catalogue, which is fine for work but isn't a suit.

hmm agree with eska, outside help is a no no. But i do like Mango based beverages so I'm very much enjoying the evening. Here Bug, take my gift of a bottle of lambrini - it came free with my pizza I ordered last night after I couldn't really eat much of Wal's food.

Enjoying it so far, although I am in trepidation that this is all going to turn into some cringe-fest by making us all dress in saris and bollywood style dancing or something. Only thing worse could be a classic CDWM 'hot tub moment'. :$

I would say about 7 days of complete writing. I would read a meta-analysis or overview paper first to get the structure and then add as I read to different sections. By the third day it will be starting to take shape and then you will be arond 10,000 by the sixth I would say. But then if I did that I would then take about 3 weeks off to recover!
