I think I may have to put something like "participants who were more satisfied with XYZ seemed to have Factor E, although this was not measured blah blah blah"?

well my second study leads on from this - my first study is qual and then I quantify the findings in the second. I haven't technically measured factor E, but I have in a round about way.

I guess I'm just stuck on the wording of how to say its important. I'm not used to saying the word 'I'. I really want to say "I have a hunch this is important too" but can't say that!

I meant a 'student' magazine, like a postgrad student publication. I know we have 'the psychologist' from the british psychological society - its a magazine that has research based articles but isn't an 'academic' publication.

Would it be possible to publish in something like a society magazine or in a student publication?

Ok basically I have a study that looks for themes in a set of interview data. I have found themes A, B, C and D across all the interviews and have quotes etc to back these up. However, I also have a 'hunch' that there is factor E that is important for the outcomes of these interviewees. However, none of them say anything about it, so no quotes that illustrate it. I would say Factor E is a personality type - so they don't elude to it, i didn't test them on it, I can just say that I think its important!??

In my findings can I say that A, B, C and D were themes and I have a vague feeling that E might be important? - how do I phrase this! or do I just ignore E and pretend it doesn't exist?

not in history but would tent to agree with CeCef - it would be exceptionally hard, just because you have not been trained in the style of writing - as in trained through an undergraduate and postgraduate degree. I just wanted to come across a bit more positive ;-)

I don't know what 'high school senior' means I'm assuming its sixth form!? I would say it is perfectly possible. But you would have to read a lot of articles from the journal you want to publish in. Look at what kind of journal you want to publish in and consider impact factors etc.

This might help you get the writing style that is required.

omg, I have done 1 transcription :-( I need to finish the other one before 4 really. and then i have the half finished one, but I need the house empty for that as the sound quality on the interviewees side is appalling, whereas my side of it is REALLY LOUD, so i have to turn it up super loud to hear her bits and then my voice is booming round the house in the embarrassing squeaky way! Oh well, I'll try with this last but one one!

What I would say is that my sup suddenly does become interested if I do work that impacts her e.g. she can suddenly see a networking or grant opportunity available. I have now worked out that if I do this type of work she is more willing to read stuff, BUT obviously not always easy to do!

Hmm it goes funny doesn't it! Rubbish. Mods - can't we enable HTML or somethnig in this forum so we can use it in different ways?

depends on the area. For me in social sciences. I would have done a 'statement of the problem' with a general overview of the area, where the gap in the research lies and back it up with statistics etc (I am looking at a problem a certain demographic has). And I would then outline the studies I wanted to do - about a paragraph each, considering methodology etc.
