If its that kind of criticism - I've had it before. I just went and found a load of references for power and sample size and threw them in to the text. So literally justified why my sample was ok. There will be references out there! Or even perhaps a simple sentence acknowledging this difference between yours and the original?

I'm giving a presentation on thus and need to hand out an info sheet afterwards. Its a non-academic audience. Its basically goign to be 4 key definitions, and some bullet points under each one.

I really don't want to use Arial, TNR, Tahoma, Calibri

Any ideas to make it a little less 'dry'?

I took a break at 2 and went to play frisbee with my dog which livened me up no end. Have you tried to take a break Wal - and a REAL break. (not staring at firebox.com, here or other computer realted things). I find all too often that my breaks are just me sat at my desk doing different work, but still work/similar to work.

I think the whole world of academic jobs is very difficult. I'm married so desparately trying to find something near to where we live and OH works, but realistically I might have to go into another area of work/commute/live somewhere e.g. do a post doc in manchester while he lives/works in Bristol!

I had an OK day today (not great) but yesterday was a disaster. I had many problematica technica - some of which Wal helped me out with, but my computer also crashed. Its so annoying and halts any work or feelings of work!

Its something I am very scared about too. Considering you have to really know someone to get a job. But I am actively looking at ESRC grants, so i can potentially approach my current supervisor and ask her to help me with the application. I am also keeping an eye on said site, as well as the one for my own discipline (BPS) although not so much research jobs there!

Other PhD students in your field are always a good resource - especially if they are in a different year. this means if their sup/department has a position coming up you can hear about it first - and obviously if they are not in the same year as you they will not want the job themselves!

right - I have done 13/40 thematic analysis. Plan for tomorrow is to get up to 25. Unfortunatly some aren't transcribed yet, but as I am just doing basic themes (the key 4 heading themes) - as just need to count them I am going to listen to them and do this. But will get all the transcribed ones done tomorrow!

Going to finish the presentation stuff tonight, so I have all day to think over it/run through it a bit. Feel a bit more on top of it especially now I have replaced lighbulbs in my room - I can see!
