self-funding-snobbery?
Avatar for sneaks

I don't know any self funders who have rich parents. Most struggle to fund themselves and are often part time. I alway feel sorry for them as their supervisors couldn't care less because its their money going down the toilet as they struggle to progress (due to lack of supervision). I think supervisors think that if people self fund there is a bottomless pit of money, compared to a research grant that has a time limit.

I wish there was music that adapted to your behaviour e.g. a flowing calm melody while thinking about your PhD and then a fast overture when you frantically start writing - my very own soundtrack

ok, i've done nothing AGAIN and starting to feel rubbish! I need to get stuff done tonight, hoping OH will be so obsessed with call of duty that it will force me to do work! I need to get on top of the procrastination spiral!

My supervisor can be so rude!

I agree with Cobweb. My Supervisor has said that I have to use her as an excuse to get things done e.g. "XX is on my back to get the photocopying done admin man - please do it now otherwise she'll kill me" or "XX wants this done now - nothing to do with me!"

I have to note, that I was in the car and I was technically singing it to my dog who was in the back waiting for her walk. I'm not sure if that makes it better or worse!

oh, I'm so out of the loop with music. I studied it so much at school and at evil saturday music school at guildhall and then after school every night, that I hated it by the time I was 18 and although I used to like muse, I now just sing along to very catchy numbers - like this morning when I was caught at the traffic lights by a man watching me do the actions to "build me up buttercup" :$

The only bands I have ever obsessed over are blur and queen, so maybe I will dig out my old CDs :$ and try and transfer them on to the new fangled mp3 systems. My ipod is the most empty thing in the world - I use it to record my interviews for PhD, but nothing else lol.

to the NORTH POLE! This was a bus en route to santaville and these demonic little beings were his helpers. Jemima should have been ecstatic, but her father had warned her not to believe the fluffy fairytales of a fat man in a jolly red suit. No, the santa she knew was....

yes I love radio 4 - I was essentially brought up by it as it was constantly on in my parents house when I was little. The archers theme tune is like being back in the womb for me lol. and the soothing sound of John Humphries is like hearing my second dad!

I have tried a bit of classic fm, but annoyed by the cheesy interludes - radio 4 it is!
