apple - LaTex does look lovely :-x but the coding bit looks v confusing for me!!

Could you do a really dodgy fix and just put in footnotes that aren't technically footnotes but just small writing - if you get what I mean?

I don't mind word most of the time, but then sometimes, like with table cell height it just goes crazy! and it ends up being something really unintuitive like the spacing of text throwing it all out, rather than anything on the table commands grrr!


However, the compatibility issues would scare me too much to use another programme, plus the ease of use with endnote.

I've suddenly realised that I may be more productive if I have a bit of background noise. Any ideas for music that won't give me a headache or allow me to sing along in hideous kareoke stylee.

probaby a good way of getting stuff for the RAE or whatever they are calling it now. By the time you have something ready for publication, you will leave which means your supervisor can put it against their name for a publication within the department - if they do the same with people who are more likely to stay, they can't share the publication for the RAE - its either one or the others if they are in the same department.

this forum is on the same website as 'find a postdoc' which is a search engine for post doc jobs. We have been told off before for mentioning competitors on here like the jobs dot ac dot uk one.

Thanks for the advice - I am slowly getting to grips with nvu thingy - but seems very bare, I would like a template. The problem is that my dad is a craftsman and therefore doesn't want a 'racy' look - more sophisticated and simple.
