well I seem to spend most of my days recently deciphering sup's handwriting and squiggles. Why oh why can she not use track changes!?

agh I can't find anything in the cupboards! I'm so hungry - will have to nip to the supermarket :-( HATE the supermarket, especially when I have no real idea what to buy

in my discussion I have a paragraph that interprets the findings from one of my hypotheses. My sup has put "not sure if needed" next to the entire paragraph and told me to remove it. This is the paragraph I put in because when we sent it for publication, the reviewers said they didn't really understand why we hadn't talked about a large section of the results lol. (she'd taken a similar paragraph out before sending it to publication). :-s

haha Cindrella - you got my least liked phrase ever "just get on with it", I've got to the stage where I can't talk to my parents, because every time they do they say "well just get your nose to the grind stone and get on with it" - err yeah, ok, I'll stop going to these wild parties every day that are delaying my progress. Oh wait, no I don't go to those, because I'm always working lol

Discussion section of my chapter today - not looking foward to it at all, but I'm going to try and rattle it out before lunch.

not sure my sup really cares about any deadline tbh, her past supervisees have got to the stage where I'm at now, and 3 of them then took between 2-5 years, yes years to then hand in. I'm determined not to do that (one of them did get it in by the deadline, so I'm hopeful!) so I'm being quite determined about saying I WILL be getting it in in the next few weeks and will not put up with much more faffing. My concern is that my sup has asked for a lot of changes. I suspect she doesn't realise how much change she has actually asked for, so I'm worried I'll give it back to her and she'll say its worse :-( she's also refusing to see any copies of anything, until its all in one document with page numbers, contents page etc. - i.e. she won't read individual chapters as I finish them, which is annoying because I wouldnt mind some feedback while I'm finishing off each chapter.

Anyhoo, I finally did the results, I'm not sure they add anything, in fact I think they may raise issues about whether I should have conducted them, so am going to keep the output,but not put it in, see if they say anything. :p

I wanted to finish the entire chapter today, but I've only done up until the end of the results. I'm too tired now though, so tv for 30 mins and then bed!

can you get someone to run it through turn it in at your uni?

I've never used turn it in, but my understanding is that it comes up with high percentages anyway a lot of the time, and with something the size of a thesis I suspect it would come up with a high percentage (although that's just a massive guess lol!)

I just got told I have to hand an electronic version of my thesis in, so I was tempted to run it through something, but I remember a discussion about this on here before and recall some people saying that some of these programs have small print which means they can use/own any material that is run through it, so be careful!

well I'm slightly annoyed. Sup has noted that I need to do sig testing for some of my descriptives. its not part of my hypotheses. And it would mean running 4 mixed ANCOVAs - not a problem in itself, but I also need to put the data differently, meaning about 2 hours of data entry :-( also, I'm a bit worried that its a bit bad practice, just randomly running sig tests on stuff to see if differences are significant? I'll have to do it anyway I suppose. Pretty much guaranteed I'll be on here in a week saying she deleted all the analysis anyway (sprout)

I know exactly how you feel I feel at the end of my tether with the changes, and I've also had the 'fees' convo with my sup this week. - wasn't helped by the HoD saying I could have a waiver for a few weeks - which means there's a lack of urgency (although is a weight lifted too). I'm a bit better off in that i have a starting new job deadline, but I wouldn't be surprised if sup ignores this completey.

Not sure what to advise, maybe just say the printing office need it for 2 weeks before submission? (good excuse if he doesn't understand techology like my sup!)

dog walked, also gossipped with old lady next door for 20 mins about the new and old neighbours (house next door just sold) and her arthritis which was informative, but slightly boring lol.

Onwards to the horribleness of the results section!
