ENDNOTE help?

I wasn't aware you could do this, I though you just had to 'exclude author' and then manually type in their name :$

How do you normally do it??

Sylvester, Do we still have the prestigious "Made in England"...Well times have changed! It's now "Made in China" or atleast made in India. So i bet the exports are as few! and watch this space, they gona get fewer! No offence though.

Well - actually my dad runs a small business where everything is made in England - in fact everything is made in their house - and they export all over the world. And there are many other businesses that are very proud to put 'Made in England' as a sign of quality on their work.

Badhaircut - please can we not use the word troll - I am on another forum where the term is rife and it has now become a situation where anyone who disagrees a teeny tiny bit with someone else gets shouted at = TROLL TROLL lol (altho I do agree in this specific situation lol)

Question for social science phd'ers

I don't know any of these journals and I am in social science - but psychology. I would go on the impact factor if it were me

Just one supervisor
Avatar for sneaks

the majority of people in my field of study technically have 2, but never see the second. I didn't even know who my second was until 3 weeks ago - and I am going into my third year. I also only see my 1st supervisor about 2-3 times a year. I guess it depends on how experienced that sup is, mine is a professor who has supervised many other projects

How fair is marking? help needed for my article-thanks!

are you talking to us as students or lecturers? as most of us are both.

It would surely depend which uni, which department, which course, which module and which essay/type of coursework!

I see a lot of rubbish international students being pushed onto courses because it means lecturers can take on 1 international, for 3 home students, so they can provide better teaching to a smaller class. However, some of them have awful language skills and usually end up doing badly. I know I am prone to the odd grammatical error and typo - but Benm, your language doesn't seem too great either!

Realistically your project cannot be guaranteed to help local populations - you might hope that it does, but without proper transfer of information after your research, then it may just sit around in a draw - or it will be someone elses job to implement ideas based on your findings. You are paying for the privilege to study in the UK regardless of topic.

My research should dramatically help the plight of a certain population group - but does it motivate them to participate in my research - no. So no one is obliged to give you lower fees, just because you think your project is more worthwhile than others.

I don't think you can say universities discriminate on colour - any White international student would be charged the same fee as a non-white international student!

Other european countries may also have different funding arrangements to the UK also, although I don't know and I doubt you do either. I see international students as having to pay more because it is a privilege to study in the UK and you should have to pay a bit more because a) you are taking up a place from a UK resident and b) you may require more resources

Yes, students do sell stuff or get commissions at the end of year shows, well, the lucky ones anyway! The college also buys work for its own collection, which includes students going back to its early days. Maybe your dad's in it! My dad used to go to gigs there in the late 50s/early 60s.

Hmm - I don't know exactly when he went - he now makes musical instruments but I don't know what kind of stuff he did back then. He's always going on about how they made them go to st pauls cathedral to learn architectural drawing and how to construct arches etc.

I did think that the central school must do some kind of sale at the end - I thought that people go to the degree shows to buy stuff/commission students. My dad went there back in the 1960s

does sound like a good idea - maybe students should have to serve the community in some way. I know my old uni used to have a law clinic which, if you were skint/brave enough they would represent you and help you out like the citizens advice bureau. I guess you could have services to fashion. Don't know what Psychs would do - if only I had studied like Derren Brown then I would be RICH.......................rich............................rich 8-)
