Did any of you know who your examiners were going to be whilst you wrote up?

I do and its freaking me out, whenever I have to cite the bloke I'm thinking should I, rather than "Smith (2010) suggests that" put something like "Smith (2010) suggests, in a very eloquent way, because he is so wonderful, that.."

Only just opened my laptop after a morning of getting kid to school, taking dog for a walk and going to the supermarket for 3 days worth of food. I have no idea how you mums manage it all!

Got a bit of an annoying email to sort, which I really should address, but I'm going to ignore for a few hours.

Goal 1: look through introduction examples of chapters and my own introduction and work out what i need to do!

I'm was funded by the ESRC in london - you get £2k extra for being in london.

at my uni, you can opt for monthly - like a normal salary, or quarterly. I opted for quarterly, so I wouldn't spend it all, but for some reason they paid me monthly anyway, and I did spend it all :$

ah yeah, my heading 1 really is only my chapter titles.

I need headings 3 and 4 and sometimes 5 though - :-(

I can't decide on heading types and its one of those decisions that's taking ages of thinking time.

What does everyone else have?

I'm settled with..

heading 1 = centre boldface
heading 2 = left aligned, boldface

then I'm stuck!

I have a migraine, which has been made slightly better by marmite crisps - maybe I'm onto something.

i reckon, once you get fast at typing (which you will when transcribing), a 1 hour interview should take no more than 2 and a half hours, maybe less.

its not 'tosh' and it won't look like 92,000 if you 1.5 space it and make the margins smaller. :p Everyone I've known who has had no amednments have had them on loooong pieces of work. i think the examiners automatically think "that's too much work for anything less than a PhD" so you're on the right track from the start (up)

Still haven't done goal 1 :$ but I have done goal 9 or whatever, which I was putting off, as I had a sudden attack of "argh, I just need to get it done"

I have already got up (achievement in itself), showered, got kid ready for school, taken kid to school, found right classroom, left her with other children that looked the same, so I assume its her school!, got back, managed to reverse the car out of the drive way as builders blocked my front route out = major achievement cos I hate reversing and there are 2 horrible gateposts to crash into :-) taken dog for a walk, had toast and now ready to start PhD work!

Once installed, you can upload your mp3s or whatever, and thne go to the 'view' menu, where you can set 'automatic pauses' - means you never have to press play or pause again! and you can adjust the speed of the voice etc. Its genius.

see I've obviously got a great CV as I get the interview every time, but then I have a thing of "omg, my cv *looks* really good, but really I'm actually just rubbish and don't deserve to be here" - cue panic and then acting really shy and downplaying my achievements on the day.
