I have now made a start on all sections of the application form apart from two. One of which I can't face right now and one of which I just don't understand and will ask my supervisor about tomorrow.

I told my OH earlier that I won't have time to make dinner but now that the deadline has been pushed back I am just going to make a start on my workplan and then call it a day and make dinner. I am also going to have a huge glass of wine with it. I am drinking too much but will worry about it when I'm not so stressed out...

My introduction and context section is now drafted out. I am starting to feel quite tired and am struggling to focus so I am going to move back to my Postdoc application and just fill out as many sections of the application form part as I can manage tonight.

Right. My next goal is to finish drafting out my Case for support (which I'd expected to have finished before lunch, before I got sidetracked).

Phew, everything is working out OK. I have spoken to my mentor who was very pleased with the Case for Support I sent to him last night. He has also managed to negotiate an extra few days on the deadline with the research office. So maybe I will find time to sleep tonight after all!

My next goal is to go through the case for support I'm trying to write for a different grant which I'm finding really difficult as it a 'real' grant rather than a Postdoc. I am meeting my supervisor about it tomorrow. There are loads of things I need to ask her advice on so I will make a note of each of these.

My next goal is to make a list of the costs of the project (how the hell am I supposed to decide right now where I'll be tarevlling next year?) and to email these to my mentor.

Tonight is going to be a long night :-(

Crap, crap, crap. I have just spoken to the research office at the uni I am applying to do my Postdoc at and have been told they need the application completed 10 working days before any deadlines. This gives me until next Tuesday. Crap, crap, crap. I have gone into total panic mode. Next goal get in touch with the lady who needs to project the costs for me (why isn't she answering the phone!) and try and give her the info she'll need.

Yawn.... morning everyone. Yesterday I achieved my goal and sent my Case for support to my mentor. Now I hopefully don't have to think about my Postdoc application for another couple of days...

Today I am moving on to grant proposal number 2. My first goal is to draft out the introduction.

'Research and related achievements' done. Getting there.... Now onto the final section.

Thesis summary section is now redrafted. I found this VERY difficult but I *think* I have done a decent job. I am now going to redraft the 'research and related achievements' section.

Don't worry Button, its normal to go through phases like this. i think its best just to try and get as much done as you can each day and wait for it to pass (which it will).

I am now back from the gym and getting back into things. I am thinking about how smug I will be relaxing with a glass of wine and some leftover Christmas chocolate having managed to email my work to my mentor, so that is the goal!

Yes I often do. My main supervisor talks A LOT and I find it difficult to make notes as he's talking so from a couple of months in I have recorded all of our meetings. We also have group supervision and data sessions which people often record.

I'm sure your supervisor won't mind, it shows that you are being attentive!

Research impacts section has been drafted. I am now going to give my brain a break and head to the gym. I'm aiming to be sat back down by 4.15 and I will then redraft the entire Case for support and hopefully get it emailed to my mentor tonight.

Summary is finished. My next goal is to draft out the impacts section.

I was asleep just after 9 tonight so I am feeling so much better today.

My first goal is to rewrite and add some bits to my summary.

I really can't focus on my Case for support any more. It requires a lot of thinking and I'm not up to it.

I have various sections to fill in for each of the grants so I am just going to pick and choose and do whatever I can focus on.
