I mean that I looked at all of HangSeng's posts and all had better than average English except two. And look - on 'last to post on this thread wins' HangSeng writes "This thread is so funny! But it's me :)" - cryptic clue? BUT IT'S ME? I think HangSeng is H.

HangSeng, I'm suspicious about you. Don't want to point the finger or scare you off but... I think you've done fake bad English on only two of the threads you posted on (this one and 'last to post on this thread wins'), and there were lots of others. I think you're one of our old friends...

Hi mlis, I really empathise with you because my supervisor has done essentially the same thing to me, and tons more, and I know it hurts (okay, it might not bother EVERYONE, but when it DOES it's hard to deal with). It's not quite as simple as "don't care about it" but I think that's what you've got to do. You can't change how your supervisor acts. Maybe, just maybe, he doesn't realise how he's behaving, maybe he's just thoughtless. Whatever the case, you don't have a supervisor who is friendly towards you. It's not a rule that they have to be, so you can't demand anything from him, not even equal treatment
It's a really horrible (unfair) situation to be in, just try your best not to let it bother you. Work, work, work, and have nothing else to do with him!

I think the message is not to give up. I'd recommend seeing someone else too, and ask them loads of questions. All of a sudden you'll hear something no-one ever mentioned before and you'll have another option to consider

H: no, I don't think God needs anyone to defend Him, but it feels like someone badmouthing a friend, you wouldn't be much of a friend if you didn't defend them. Would God care about the comments? Maybe.

Ed: I see your point about religion not fitting with that list, because it's something you choose. So, I can't do anything about it, this is my choice and I take what comes with it. Believe me, I understand that. I'm should still be allowed to say it offends me.

I didn't mean I came at it 'all guns blazing', I didn't even know WHAT I was going to do (I was working elsewhere, thought about it, and came to the computer to find Jenny's post). It just felt wrong to ignore something that was offending me to the core of who I am. And I don't take *everything* way too seriously, I've stopped myself posting on this thread before because it wasn't started seriously ('can God help us get our Phd' was part of the original question).

ditto, and DanB's follow up. I just came on the forum to do something about it but the rules only say "stereotype or offend groups on the basis of ethnic origin, age or sexual orientation " (not religion)

I should add that I have *only* systematically read and studied probably more than half of the Bible (i.e. not all of it, yet). I think there are different levels of belief, some people go deeper than others, so I don't think reading the whole Bible is a prerequisite to belief.
