Guilty pleasures songs...

I keep discovering 80s songs that I really like without knowing that general opinion is they're rubbish - like "since you've been gone" (nearly 80s), "I just died in your arms tonight", something with a "sledgehammer" chorus, Neneh Cherry's "Buffalo Stance", "Me, myself and I" (de la Soul), okay, I admit it, I can tell fine well that these are dodgy songs but I still like them! And I liked the Backstreet Boys and Justin Timberlake...which is a big admission for someone who's typically an indie rocker!

They should at least make us do basic first aid or something!

What a great project!! :-D

What?! The time taken for half of the spoons to go missing you mean? Did any of the spoons in the closed lab go missing?!

What a great project!! :-D

Think so, but it was a boring result - something about the standard height of a kitchen worktop.

Can you believe this?!

I first heard the (rather bad but catchy) Billy Joel song 'we didn't start the fire' a year or two ago, and I identified with it because I'm in a chemistry department where there is the occasional fire:
"We didn't start the fire
It was always burning
Since the world's been turning
We didn't start the fire
No we didn't light it
But we tried to fight it"

What a great project!! :-D

I wonder if they can explain why it's usually only the biscuits at the top of the pack that are cracked? (or is that only my imagination?)
I came across this guy who is analysing barn owl pellets as part of his research, and he can't find any (low population). Really, my heart went out to him, if only someone had warned him not to take on the project. Imagine having to make a public appeal to find what you need to research?

What a great project!! :-D

I like the 'have your say' comment. Never mind the digital speckle pattern interferometry, the general public still say 'the shelf stacker drops them'.

Is my second supervisor...
S

Thanks everyone, it makes sense that someone who was involved in your work wouldn't be allowed to examine it, and in my department I think it's typical that the prinicpal supervisor isn't even present at the viva.
It seems that this should also extend to a second supervisor, even if (as in my case) they had little involvement in the project (don't have one yet so any involvement is yet to come!) and if only because they're at the same uni or research division. If the second supervisor is present, I now reckon it's only as an observer.
I'll worry about the internal examiner later...

I need to choose a second supervisor, but don't want to pick someone I WANT to examine me in the viva if being second supervisor means they can't examine me...

404, I just searched google to see how to respond to your joke (my supervisor acts like a), looking for a better way to say 'boom boom'...and I found the Basil Brush website! Well, that's just made my day!

Okay, not so much concentration on the "2nd" people, I'll rephrase the question: "is my nth supervisor..." (i.e. are any of my supervisors allowed to be internal examiner, and don't get me started on the fact that I only have ONE supervisor. I'm looking for a second at the minute, hence the question. Anyone want to be my second supervisor? First task is to sign a form for me...today)

thanks Freddy, and Sylvester yes you can phone as many friends as you like!
