Self-Funding European Research Masters or PhD
T

It's much easier. In my lab, if you bring your own funding and you have any type of biology degree, you are accepted no questions asked. However, it's extremely difficult to self-fund, and those that do are generally government or corporation funded, or have very rich parents.

Can you do a MSc in management with an engineering degree?

Running out from PhD completion
T

I think it depends on the PhD. For example, many molecular biology students can't really write up until they have completed three years of data collection and analysis because the thesis is being formed as the results are being generated. It's not a case of year one, chapter one; often three data chapters are being formed simultaneously. I'm 3.5 years in and still have 1-2 months data to collect. I have 2.5 chapters written though.

It's best not to do a PhD to get a better job or salary these days, but of course this depends on your field and what type of job you are looking for.

Sounds like you will be fine to me! I had a five year gap between my MSc and PhD. Worked out ok so far - I should submit my thesis in the next few months.
