Phd results

In the UK you would still get a PhD if you did everything correctly but for some reason the project didn't 'work'. You need to check what happens in your department/country in situations like this.

Post Doc Interview Presentation
T

I don't think a copy of someone else's presentation will help you. As a postdoc applicant, you must have done a fair few presentations before, right? Just give a brief background, summarise your main results, mention your methods (as relevant for the position in particular) as you go though, show the significance of the work and say what papers you got/will get and that's enough.

Change of supervisors
T

Don't you have a second supervisor? If not, question the relevance of the changes and remind your supervisor of your deadline.

Found Relevant Mistake while making PhD correction
T

Better check with your supervisors on this one.

Researchgate.net
T

I think if you leave feedback it just goes on the article page on researchgate for others to see. I don't see any benefit to it, as most of the feedback is just "great paper, thanks". I wouldn't put unpublished papers on there, because you are at risk of others plagiarizing your work before you have published it.

Modest (6 months) Corrections despite publications
T

Failure at this stage is very unlikely. If you've done what they have asked, you will most likely pass.

Equivalency My degree

You need to check with the university admissions department and ask them. Or check this:

MREs or MSc??
T

Whether MSc or MRes, it doesn't make much difference for jobs afterwards.

Can anyone help?

Thesis Corrections...can you re-send them?
T

No, don't send any further corrections - this will make them question whether the corrections you have made are sufficient. In my experience, they don't pay too much attention to minors anyway, so I'm sure you will be fine.

Just leave it now, you probably won't hear anything til after Christmas. Forget about it until January.

Do I have any hope for getting accepted
T

The deadline was the 19th of September... and you think it's too early to contact them? The decision for interview would have most likely have been made within a few weeks of the closing date, so my guess it you were not successful. You need to contact them and find out, but I would leave it until the 9th of January now, as you won't get much of a response until then.

Positive ending after R&R
T

Brilliant fatbob, thanks for posting. Hope this gives a ray a light to those on the R&R path.

Reference courtesy
T

They will copy and paste as tailor as appropriate. As they have already written one reference, it wouldn't be too much effort to write another, but they probably won't be very happy to have to do it over Christmas.

Email them first, because to be honest if I got random reference requests now over Christmas I would ignore them until I start back at work in January, unless the person had pre-agreed with me that I would do it, or I was feeling really bored/generous one day.

Failed Phd, got MPhil
T

I would try to appeal it on the grounds that if you have done the majority of the corrections you have nearly done enough to pass and they should now give you minor corrections, plus you were taking [bad] advice from your supervisor so you thought you were doing everything as you should.

PhD Referees
T

They are asking for academic references so should provide them. I'm sure the BSc/MSc people will recognize your name and they can go on and find your transcripts and comment on academic ability from that. Best to get dissertation supervisors rather than course leaders because the former are more likely to have had more contact with you. You can also list the employer as an additional reference if there is space to.
