Going to fail

I'm sure you'll be fine. Everyone has lots of unfinished experiments in their thesis. Your supervisors can give you an indication of what an examiner will think but no one can really predict this. But I'm sure you will be fine!

Need advice for MS and Phd

Which country are you in now? It's very difficult to work full time whilst doing a MSc or PhD. How would you fund your studies?

Over 2 weeks to assign reviewers?
T

I'm currently working as a journal assistant, well for the next 8 days, and 1 day if I can help it...

Anyway, yes that's quite a long time. Part of my job is to chase the associate editors if they don't assign reviewers within 2 days of the manuscript being assigned to them. However, I have seen cases where they assign lots of reviewers and no one will accept to review the paper, so it could be one of those situations, so it's not that they are not doing it, but that no one will accept to be a reviewer. Email the journal and chase if not assigned within another week.

Agree with above as well - this time can be busy due to start of academic year.

Supporting PhD student

Yep, be more honest about how you see their progress and give them a deadline. Ask them if there is problem since they haven't done what you've asked them to do before. If there's no problem, then ask them why they haven't done it. Keep pushing for an answer, because there must be one.

Does anyone here pay fees for minor corrections or write up?

Doesn't your uni let you print for free? If not, just print the colour pages you need, print the rest in black and white and take it to the binders yourself. It's probably cheaper than letting the binders print it for you. Or, will your supervisors let you use a grant code to pay for the cost of reprinting?

Lazy PhD advisor destroyed my experience of doing research and PhD

Just work on your research and have an open conversation with him about the support you need. You're four years in so there's no point in starting again now.

Look on findaphd.com for opportunities with worldwide funding, or look to your own government for scholarships.

Major submission decision needed today -supervisor blocking

Have you told you them the reason you want to disregard what they are saying is because you don't think they are the best person to assess whether your methods are right or not?

Major submission decision needed today -supervisor blocking

Difficult one. What does your first supervisor say? Does this notice of submission tie to you submitting on a certain date? When is your submission deadline?

Advice on choosing between PhD and Job after Masters
T

Doing a PhD is no guaranteed route to a job. Does your desired career require a PhD? If not, don't do one unless you want to do a PhD just because you want a PhD. It doesn't really matter whether you work first and do PhD later or do PhD first.

What could offset low grades for a Msc (Finance, Strategy,Management) in Top BS ?? Help Plz

I guess you will be paying for your MSc yourself? You will probably get it to those places you mentioned.

PHD or Master business
T

Many universities accept PhDs without Masters.

There's many reasons why people don't enjoy their PhD: from not knowing what to expect, to having unrealistic expectations, to not liking the lab/supervisor/city/university/research group, to being lonely, to struggling with the work load/type ... and I could go on forever. That doesn't mean you won't enjoy it, it depends on the person and their motivations for taking on that particular project in that particular university/city/research group.

Quote From pf329:
Mine charges £250 per four months in the fourth year. There is no fifth year.

What about people with extensions or who fail to submit by the deadline?

Masters and PhD Difference

Will what cause any problems for you?

Am I being bullied or am I just gutless?
T

Unfortunately this is a relatively common problem. You could inform your head of school, but chances are they already know about his behaviour. Best strategy is probably avoidance - use the lab when he's not around ie evenings and weekends. And don't leave things lying around to give him the opportunity to shout at you.
