PhD viva result: any different between major amendment and R&R
T

As strange as it seems, universities do have priorities other than your thesis and one month really isn't that long to process something, especially if it's a very busy time of year for the university. It may not be a case of simply posting your amendments to the examiner.

Do you have to pay the year fee for resubmission? That does seem a bit strange. At my uni, technically I was only funded for 3 years so they could have asked me to pay 4th year writing up fees but they didn't.

Why would they withdraw you from the university system yet let you submit your amendments? Why would they let you do this if you haven't paid the continuation fee?

What do your supervisors say?

I loved my PhD. I soooo wish I could do it all again!

Low 2.1, worth looking for PhD?

Hmm, maybe I did too, actually, I can't remember! I know I had to upload my certificate, but I can't remember about the transcripts.

Looking for a funded Masters/PhD.. please help!!

When I applied for my PhD, I was just feeling disillusioned with my job one evening, so I just banged out an application to my local university for a funded course that was vaguely in my degree area, and hey presto, I got the PhD!

Apply! You have nothing to lose!

Thesis Major Revisions and Postdoc

Even if your thesis is rejected (which is unlikely) you are unlikely lose your job. Presumably you are on a lower grade anyway because you don't have your PhD yet? I know I am anyway - I won't get the higher grade until I give the department my PhD certificate. If you are on a PhD grade, maybe they would just move you down a grade?

Personally I doubt they would do anything. If I failed my PhD, my employers wouldn't know - they are not going to ask me to prove my PhD because they will have to pay me more! Your employers won't know unless you tell them maybe?

Do you have a reason to think your comittee may reject your thesis, or are you just worrying unnecessarily?

How long does it take to receive the result after submitting the amendment (post viva)?
T

I think it took me 3 days to get the corrections approved by the internal (I doubt he bothered to check them).

Then it took another few days to get confirmation from the school that the corrections were approved and then it was another 6 weeks til the exam board met and confirmed the result and then I got my certificate after graduation.

I would email the university or examiner that is approving them and ask for an update. Check in your school handbook whether you are allowed to contact the examiner first though.

Low 2.1, worth looking for PhD?

Low 2.1 is still a 2.1... They are not going to ask for your percentage on your PhD applications!

Totally varies. I had one, my friend had none.

Sorry to hear about your troubles.

I'm not sure what you can do now if your appeal has been unsuccessful. Did you not have a second supervisor?

Can't you access them via your uni?

PhD Issues

I wouldn't worry, I'm sure everyone has errors in their thesis. I've never heard of cases where theses are revoked because of this.

I'm writing a paper based on my thesis data now, and I can see that I missed some data off a table, meaning the percentages I reported in the thesis are wrong, but I have amended them for the paper. Don't see what else I can do now!
