how to start publishing in law?
T

My other half is doing a PhD in law and in the process of putting together an article with his supervisors.. I would suggest that you talk to your supervisors to get some help and advice on getting work published.

Best internet package?
T

I think virgin media (previously NTL) have some good tv/phone/broadband packages.. But I don't know much about the reliability of the service. I did used to use virgin for broadband before it merged with NTL and it was ok.. Just the customer service people there are terrible.

Personally I use orange broadband but that is only because I get it free with my mobile phone package :o)

How can i join in a German university for Phd in Chemistry?
T

It would probably be a good idea to contact universities in Germany for the precise information and advice you require.

i need someone to give me some list of schools i can apply to in the uk
T

Here is a list of all the universities in the UK -http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_universities_in_the_United_Kingdom

That should give you somewhere to start some research on which university might suit you

just started a PhD! Any advice???
T

There is no reason why doing a PhD should prevent you having a love life. You will under pressure and be a bit stretched at times but that is life whether you are in employment or doing a PhD. It boils down to what your partner is like. If they are supportive and your relationship is strong then there should be no problem.. If your partner gets arsey with you while doing a PhD then I guess its a good chance to see their true colours. I am lucky in that my partner is doing a PhD aswell so understands what the whole system is like.

At the end of the day your PhD shouldn't control your life, treat it like a job.. set yourself 'working hours' and try to stick to them, obviously you will have to work late sometimes and work longer when you have reports due etc. I think the best advice I got when I started my PhD was to make sure I kept a busy personal life and don't allow it to be overtaken by my working life.. It seems to work well for me so far

Can anybody help?
T

AS far as I am aware there are no agencies who will get you an offer.. It is something you have to do off your own back.

Unfortunately being rejected is common, as competition for PhD positions is high.. It might be worth contacting the universities and asking for feedback as to why you were rejected.

Regarding a query about PhD in UK
T

You don't need to have published work to get a place on a PhD program.

I think I know the answer but I'll ask anyway...

I think it is possible, at the end of the day it is up to the university/insitution to ensure that you have a supportive supervisor who is fulfilling his/her duty.. I believe that there are certain guidelines set out by the research councils and the universities that supervisors must follow. In the first instance I would echo what BB said; you need to talk to someone higher up the ladder, such as the director of graduate studies or the head of faculty.. There will be help available for you so don't think that you have to suffer.. Good luck with it!
