Learn to count, it adds up to him/her starting at their first uni at 18!

OU actually does PhD in astrophysics.Someone from my previous uni went there to do just that anmd she graduated in microbiology. Contact them to find what exactly is required. Good luck.

Work experience vs Master
V

You don't need a masters to do a PhD if you have a 2:1 (pass for a masters is equivalent to 2:1).

Wait another year a good idea??????
V

Distiniction is above a first at my uni (hence I will never get that).

what does 2(i) and 2 (ii) means?
V

A 2:1 is also equivalent to 60% and 2:2 is the same as 50% (not just above these percentages). They are both second class but 2:1 is a high second class and 2:2 is a low second class.

Urgently need sponsorship for MSc in Humanitarian Project Management

I'm able to do my masters by getting a career development loan. I got the highest amount possible (£8,000). It pays for my course fees and some of my accomdation. I don't have to start paying it back until 1 month after my course ends.

there are instsitues that will fund degree but i don't know how it works for the kind of masters you'll do. Check also if the uni offers scholerships.

Can any1 help with Personal Statement
V

The career centre at your uni and your personal advisor might be able to help.

Wait another year a good idea??????
V

Yes 50 - 59% is a pass. I was told a merit is equivalent to a first in an undergrad.

V

Wait another year a good idea??????
V

Yeah I felt the same so I read about the subject before starting. I wasn't sure what I needed to know until I started the course, so only now I can properly catch up.

Btw a pass for a masters is eqivalent to 2:1 in a bachelors.

Last on to post on this thread wins

Me too, hence I'm here...winning.

postgrad funding (urgent)
V

The moral of the story is make sure you have the funding *before* starting the course.

Hey! what do i do next
V

I haven't done a PhD but I think what's important is your love for the subject. You have to enjoy what you're researching.

Really upset, please advise
V

Lots of people get rejected and never really know why. It's happened to me. It's not nice but it's one of those things.

08 March 2007 19:38 You can only get them for very specific programmes, like postgrad. law medicine accountancy etc. You can't get them for general masters or PhDs

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Wrong I got one for MSc medical and molecular microbiology. You got it mixed up with professional loans which unlike career development loans are not government based. You are eligible to apply if you got accepted to a legitimate postgraduate course. You can only use it to pay for 100% of the course fees if you're unemployed, otherwise it can go forwards 80% of the tuition. I'll have to start paying it 1 month after my course ends.
