If you weren't doing this, what would you be doing?

I would eventaully get a job in admin which goes no where as there are 29 applicants for each grad jobs.

Funding despite having a third
V

I thought it would depend on how you did on your masters rather than your first degree. Because if you do well, it makes up for getting a third. I have no experience, it just makes sense to me...

Good luck anyway!

Waiting to hear...

I had the same problem with Manchester and it got to the point I assumed I wasn't accepted. I found the best thing to do was to contact the admission officer directly (rather than admin which didn't have a clue). By doing that I finally found out I'm accepted otherwise I still wouldn't know. :S

Manchester - good for post grads? +which halls?

I'm doing to do medical and molecular microbiology, what you will do? :)

They apply for already existing topics but they must write their own research proposals within those topics available.

Locks on bedroom doors
V

You're right but it's better than nothing. I rather not spend ~£100 on getting one fitted but have to see what the situation will be.

Well I much rather have to pay for a TV licence then be burgled twice like with A1.

i keep crying!
V

I was similar near the end of my degree. Go somewhere with little distructions like the library. I found that helped because I couldn't cry there and I couldn't do anything else but study (unless I left). You could see if it's possible to book a private room.

Narrate your experience finding schools for your programme.
V

I tired using google but over months the results change. When I searched a year ago I got different programs to what I get now. Originally I couldn't find anything that suited me so I didn't apply anywhere. After I finished my course I was having problems finding work so I tried again and 2 courses in microbiology that were suitable came up so I applied to those. I got accepted to both and am going to Manchester. :)

MSc admission is so hard for me!
V

Sorry to say this but maybe a degree gotten in a Nigerian University is not on the same standard as that of the British one. Maybe you should check what kind of standard is accepted? A postgraduate certificate might make up for this.

Preparing for Masters
V

I'm going to do a masters at Manchester too (in microbiology). The best I do at the moment is read up on the subject.

Locks on bedroom doors

Hi a friend of mine told me that when she rented out student accommodation there were no locks to the bedrooms doors! I couldn’t believe it. She lived with friends, but I'll be moving to Manchester to do a masters where I'll live with strangers. Is it the norm in private accommodation not to have locks on the bedrooms doors?

PHD ASSISTANSHIP/FUNDING IN URBAN PLANNING

Check out FindAPhD.com (link on the left). I would think it's too late to apply for this year.

submit without supervisor reading all thesis?
V

It's your supervisor’s job. Insist its' read and if he won't before the deadline complain. I'm speaking from experience. My supervisor for the my final year undergrad project wouldn't talk to me either, he even made comments about my face and told me to shut up. He never read my final draft and I didn't do well in the project. I complained after but he lied (as I expected) to protect himself and I got a miserly 2% added onto the project mark. Don't let yourself go through the same experience. :(
