You have 3 masters but you're still an idiot. Yeah you can buy a piece of paper saying a PhD but it won't be a real one. Alternately you can make one up in Word.

rjb203 a PhD is a lot more than a few letters after your name. It'll be such an achievement for the OP to complete it, especially with their situation. I really don't like that people are telling them to quit. The whole point of a PhD is to face the challenge of dealing with situations which are far from ideal and overcoming them. The OP aleady had time off and is still unwell and it sounds like they're already half-way through the degree. Also as I said before they still have until Jan to improve.

Best rated would be possible to define at postgrad level.

The best way to go about it is by uni/subject/department ratings and maybe also publications by the tutors and what people who took the courses did after.

£10 a hour for a student part time job is unusual and I had no luck finding work at all!

jouri the OP actually said they've been getting professional help for some time already, but I know from experience this isn't always enough. Depression can be like a way of life and may be very difficult to get rid of. Which is why I say to the OP not to quit your PhD. You don't know how you'll feel in Jan, as it is some time away. OP I think you need to decide what's more important? Suicide or your PhD? If you got your PhD would you be happier? Do you really want to kill yourself using chemicals instead of completing your PhD? Getting rid of the thoughts may be hard but at least try to learn to live with them.

If you're willing to fund the PhD you'll probably be offered a project that'll interest you in the UK.

If not, it's harder especially as most funding available is only for uk/EU students.

When you say it's possible to lead to a PhD, do you mean if you stayed on 3 more years you'll get a PhD and this depends on how well your Mres project goes, or it'll just improve your chances for applying to start a PhD from scratch? If it's the former than yes it sounds like a good idea (the first year of a PhD is always an Mres and is probative anyway). If it's the latter an PhD supervisor may look at it as if you were just doing something to fill your time.

But the link is always on the left! There are always people saying they can't find hardly any projects and when I check on this site loads come up! It's not excusable, the site is very user friendly!
