I just give radio 4 or radio 5 a listen to. I do listen to Accelerate occasionally though. I actually saw REM live about a week ago in Manchester. They were very good.

something wrong with forum on my computer?

Here is some more on this issue:

What I'm experiencing is that in some areas within the "post reply" box the cursor behaves funny: I can move the arrow around no problem, but when I click to place the "writing cursor" there and do some editing, I can't. The work around is to place the cursor some where outside this area and then move it with the arrow keys. This area is placed in the middle of the box, and what I think is happening is that the blinking cursor is just invisible there. That's probably the reason it looks like you can not write.

I'm writing this post from a different computer, so it can not be the machine. I is also a PC with Firefox 2. I do not think the version of Firefox is an issue since my other computer has the latest one.

Another thing that I noticed is that the spelling checker plugin for Firefox doesn't work either. It identifies (red underscore) misspellings, but you can not open (right click) the box with suggestions.

I have the same issue and am using Firefox 3. Also, I cannot navigate away from the current page of the posts on a thread.

Can't tell you about that, but Big Brother was good last night.

Hi Timothy, I never went to any of the social events for postgrads when I started my PhD and I honestly don't think I've missed out on anything. There were a couple of people that I initially got to know quite well (unfortunately one of them dropped out :-() but that wasn't as a consequence of socialising in pubs and clubs. I suppose it'll depend on whether you want to get out and about for the purposes of relaxation really, and whether you want to get to know a lot of new people. I wouldn't say socialising as a PhD-er is as important as when you're an undergrad, though that's just my opinion. Good luck with everything.

Grrrr why is it only posting half a post?

I was saying that I love it Walminski how your name is so long, on the front page it has pushed all the stars outside the box...

Cheers Coastman, at least it's been fixed now. I was going to change it by deed pole otherwise. ;-)

Hmm, been a while since I, the self-proclaimed last poster on this thread, left a 'last' post. I'm a bit out of shape - and not only physically.

I'm not sure you're query can be answered since a PhD is a very individual experience, like I imagine an EdD is.

If it proves too expensive to get you documents translated by anexpert, I own a copy of Systran 6.0 which I used to translate someforeign journal articles from Springer-Verlag. It proved to be reallyaccurate and very simple, so if you want I can upload it for you todownload and use. Good luck.

Hi Walminski when I vote for you as 'helpful' nothing happens... but I did try to give you a star! Worked for everyone else...

Thanks for trying to vote for me, Rosy. :-) I'll probably never have a star and so be starless forever. :-(

Could you not use some translation software, such as Systran or even Google translator? Or does the translation need to be much more detailed than just general stuff, such as discourse analysis?

Pigs are extremely intelligent and resourceful animals. In fact, agriculture in the UK would be in a sorry state without them. And just imagine the unthinkable: no pigs = no bacon = terrible! Oh, and you have to admit that piglets are adorable.
