Feeling a bit down at the mo with my work, so it's administrative duties (which I can still class as work) tonight... I haven't got anywhere today, which is crap. I think I'll look at the lessons I need to teach for this coming semester tonight, and consider sorting the software I'll be needing to use for data analysis.

Hiya Chris, this is what Patrick Dunleavy writes in Authoring a PhD...

"Of course theses vary a great deal in how far they can be structured into similarly sized chunks. So these targets and limitations are only indicative...It is a good idea to be sceptical about writing chapters that are much longer or shorter than 10,000 words. This central target length can be pushed up or down by 2000 words either way without doing any great harm. But chapter lengths should not go lower than about 8000 words or higher than about 12000 words, except for the most pressing and exceptional reasons".

Hope that helps a bit.

Hey Chrisrolinski, I just translated that using Google translator and it reads: This stops me to go. I don't think anything can beat learning a language for yourself personally - damn technology.

Good evening and good morning in about 10 minutes, Tsipat. It was another uncomfortable and muggy day today, so I'm trying to make up for it now too. It's supposed to become cooler later this weeks, so perhaps we can establish more civil working patterns. Good luck to all the other late nighters tonight.

I'm glad I'm not a vampire because with all these graveyard shifts I'd have starved to death by now - no time to go 'shopping' see... My pathetic attempt at black humour aside, who'll be joining hands with me and plumbing their intellectual depths in the twilight zone tonight?

Mochemoseo, make her a brew, do the washing up, bit of hoovering, make her a card, give her a peck on the cheek and tell her what a lucky, lucky girl she is If she dares to question otherwise show her this web page to demonstrate just how much thought you've given her. Cheap, cheerful, poignant and very effective. Problem solved!

Mochemoseo, if you're going to get her diamonds, I'd recommend a simulant...cubic zirconia. You should be able to buy a impressive looking rock of a ring! If she's not too fussy, she'll certainly never tell the difference and she have all the excitement and joy of thinking she owns an extremely expensive diamond. Better still, you'll be quids in, so everyone wins!

Walminskipeasucker, clocking in for another twilight session of pen twiddling. At least it's cooler tonight! Chrisrolinski, you've inspired me - it's brewing up time for me!

Yes, I just translated what I wrote on: http://www.tranexp.com:2000/Translate/result.shtml The funny thing is, it's the same site where I had intially attempted to translate what I had written in English to Swedish. I s'pose the only way I'll ever write in a foreign language well is by learning it the hard way: from scratch!

I'm up tonight too implementing a hastily devised work productivity rescue mission: Operation Night Owl. The heat is awful for me: a small room, a large window that lets in a lot of sunlight, poor ventilation and my computer and monitor giving lots of warmth. Days like this make me feel so grotty that it's difficult for me to concentrate. Tomorrow, I'm going to apply my advanced postgraduate problem solving skills by buying a load of ice pops! Tonight, I'll just try to do something productive, but I can't open my bloody window because of the all the damn moths
