Hi Claudia, sorry to hear you just missed out. Sounds like they thought you were a great candidate though, do you have any other interviews lined up?

Hmmm haven't quite cracked that one yet myself. One thing I do find useful is to put the main points/ sub-headings on post it notes spread over the floor so that I can play around with the order of the sections and find the most logical order before chopping up the actual document.

Sorry to hear you are having such a stressful day! Working on Saturdays sucks. I am struggling with that too. I badly want this finished I just don't want to / can't get into the right frame of mind to do it.
For most people the 1st year report is the first stressful milestone. I remember the pressure I felt for my first year report. As a result I wrote a huge document (20 thousand words) most of which I have now cut out. It was completely over the top, mostly irrelevant but I suppose it helped my thinking at the time.

I have found the longer I've spent on the PhD the less I feel I know, although I think I *must* know more (not sure if that makes sense). I am now trying to revise what I have written and all I can see is inconsistency and gaps I hope no one will notice! Just do your best, you can always develop it later, and hopefully you will get some useful feedback.

Going to sob into my non-existent laptop about all the work I've got to do to finish my first draft of the thesis in 2 weeks, maybe watch Eastenders and My Name is Earl, and think to myself I really should go out more (but not actually do it!)

Decide on a system to organise all your notes and manage your references. Then you will not make the mistake I have - finding references in my thesis and thinking 'where on earth was that from? really should have added it to me bibliography at the time, dammit'

I think an article about how people feel about not completing their PhDs would be an interesting read

My diary says the first day of summer was on 26th March??
