Yeh right - you all look at Vicky Pollard and think 'oh what a charming lady, I wish I was like her'..............NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You look at her and laugh at her lifestyle and her attitude, and you certainly don't want to be like her..cos she's common and you think yourselves better. Just admit it. Express those deep down feelings - go on!!

The undergrads in our lab vary greatly - some are really motivated and have led their own projects, and have contributed lots of great ideas. On the other hand, we also had some students that just couldn't be bothered and never showed up to do lab work till the last minute. If they put a bit of effort in they'd be fine, but they don't care if they only get a 2.2 rather than the 2.1 they could have potentially got if some oomf had been put into it.

Whatever. But deep down we all know what is true!! You don't see professors hanging out down the local chippie with the chicken factory chavs now do you - what do you think the reasons for that are!? EXPLAIN THAT!!

This thread is great - everyone has gone off on one!! But Dan B and myself are right - a lot of people on this thread are hypocrites because YOU CANNOT POSSIBLY SAY that you never think yourself better than anyone else, whether it be to do with job, class, hygiene or outspoken views (after all, you've all judged me for my views on this thread without actually knowing me in person). There is no way that the majority of you would be mates with a chav factory worker who smokes 40 a day, never washes their hands and goes down the Bingo on a Friday night. SO DON'T EVEN SAY YOU WOULD!!

So no I've not lost the arguement - it just shows how many of you are hypocrites. There is NO WAY any of you would rather be working in a factory or hanging about with the factory girls on a night out in the local night club. How often have you laughed at Janice Battersby in Corrie and how little have you thought 'I really respect her and admire her for the job she does!!'.

This is turning into a total bitch fest!!

I am in a better position than poor little Lizzie living in a council house with two kids she doesn't know who the father is, earning a living by stuffing her meat in pies. I've travelled the world too whereas some (not all) factory workers don't even know where Manchester is on the map.

OK Mia and co. I'll get you an application form for the local pie factory. It sounds like you wouldn't mind working there - since you think it isn't a step down in the career ladder from where you currently are

Some of the people I met working in these places smoked about 40 a day, swore like troopers and had no respect for anything other than TV, boozing and Bingo - I bet you the world that none of you would give these people the time of day if you met them!!

When I told them I was interested in birds and wildlife they looked at me as if I was bonkers - they had no idea about the world around them..unless they saw it on TV.
