Ph.d from India while living in U.S

Hi..

Is it really possible for me to enroll in for a Ph.d in Education from an Indian University.. While i stay in U.S for 3 years..?

I can come down to India for initial two months or so to complete enrollment formalities and attend pre PH.D classes but then I wish to join my husband here who is on a project in U.S for three years.
