obviously your conscious is troubling you - if you believe you were one of the negative people featured in the post. The good outcome from the whole incident is that I received a lot of fantastic positive comments from individuals ( black, asian and white) offline from this forum.

All were sympaethetic and many felt those who misinterpreted or were derogatory to me and other forum users were were utter tossers !!

In fact i think you should leave the forum site as many thought your comments were non sensical or irrelevant- all I know is that YOU have a chip on your shoulder

I agree with you as regards sympathy by some ofthe forum users, some time ago I asked for info on Black PhD students- you know just a innocent request and the whole thread turned nasty i was totally shocked . Like you I am very wary to use this forum agin as I feel some of the users are unsympathetic, rude or just plain nasty.

Whether the individual who posted this thread is fooling around or not, suicidal thoughts should be taken seriously

I think you should contact Birkbeck College ( University of London), as they specialise in part time undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.

My science department has 11 part time PhD students. I really recommend Birkbeck as they will cater for your needs in a great way.

As a mixed race person myself, I prefer to call myself a black person of mixed race origin.

And I have to reveal this to you I am also mixed race. I know the issues on both sides

To tell the truth Bobby I was trying to get some information from black PhD students on this forum. I thought as it was a PhD forum site I might be able to talk to some black students.I was not dividing anyone.

OTHERs made it an issue NOT me

That is exactly what I'm trying to FIND out from the black student prospective. What motivate and influenced them, having being educated in the UK schooling system

You know what Goods I am at a total loss - here I was trying get information about something positive and some individuals on the forum have turned it into a race issue.

I thought as PhD students we were people who looked at things in depth as well as in breath- analyse and come to a conclusion, but some people are just NIT picking and not looking at things in context.

You obviously DID NOT read the title or the threads posted I SPECFICALLY wanted to talk to black british born PHD students,with those very questions.

I was trying to look for the positive outcomes that brought them to consider a PhD I've also explained my reasons why I need the information.

I posted it to get information I didn't want to talk about race. There is no need to get personal. Why is it when we talk about black issues people have to turn to race issues. If you are black I was hoping you'll answer my question. but it's your choice not to answer my original enquiry.
