I've developed a survey for my research and I did a pilot on it. So the survey was revised in the light of this. I've had a survey open for a month. I advertised in various professional groups as it relates to particular kinds of roles /functions in the public sector. I've found that the completion rate is about 1 in 5 of those who have looked at /started it. This seems very low to me and I'm feeling rather despondent about it. Any advice or thoughts?

I have my data findings, I've developed themes and concepts, and a theoretical framework. However, I'm struggling trying to work out whether I should write about analysis of the themes among different features of the sample of interviewees, such as their age, gender etc. When I try to do, I'm finding it repetitive. For example, if I'm looking at themes or codes according to the gender of interviewees, the same themes or codes recur when I look at the roles of interviewees. I've plenty of quotes and examples to include. So my question is: do I need to include analyses by interviewees' characteristics, or is writing up in a general way by themes sufficient?

I'm arranging my first research interviews and starting to think about how I'm going to transcribe my them. I've looked at Express Scribe which recommends using the Alto Edge Footpedal that's only readily available in the US, not in the UK. Does anyone have any recommendations for other options?

Are there any other pragmatists out there? If so can you help? . I'm looking for some in-depth reading on pragmatism as a research philosophy - most books on research methods mention pragmatism in passing.
