Anyone ever do their PhD at this university in the Netherlands? I have spoken to some people who claim that despite the high rating of the university that I should avoid it at all costs for my PhD since the requirement is to produce 3 articles to be published in high rated journals but also requires 2 years of schoolwork and classes plus exams before you can start on own research. They also said that the main reason for this is to act like an article mill that keeps the university highly rated due to the research output and does not really bother about students interests. What students are not told though is the difficulty and how much time it might take to get an article published in an acceptable journal. The person who warned me off is still there after 6 years and still not completed all articles to the standard. Do all universities nowadays have this requirement to follow years of classwork or is this just a Dutch thing? Confused and undecided :(
