Dear forum,
Next academic year I will be writing my MA Thesis. Sadly that year will personally also be a year of mourning. Because of that I could use some extra concrete advice to limit stress.
When I wrote my BA thesis I already experienced a lot of redundant insecurity, and difficulty with 'practical' thinking, like making decisions, cutting the knot. So I work somewhat diffuse - while the quality of thought was fine in the end.
Now, I already have a difficulty with choosing a research topic. I decided that I don't really care about the subject (I find much interesting), but that I would like to focus on concrete sources, and then follow the classic book 'The Craft Of Research'. So it would be very convenient for me to think practical about my work, despite being a weak point. Otherwise it will cause much unneeded stress.
Can anybody give tips on this? Like how to find a delineated body of sources, and researching them in a workman-like way?
I study Musicology by the way, and not a Research Master. So it's not rocket science, but still.
Thanks for reading!
