Thanks for your reply. I wonder if bring pregnant will affect my chances of getting the placement of being kept on it. It's a non-paid one you see and I wonder if i'll be considered too much hassle

I also think it's a good idea because it allows families to be more flexible and women to have a career without having someone they know briefly looking after their child. I also agree with what you said about women of childbearing age being more employable also.

My fiance and I are going to be trying for another baby very soon. I am also hopefully going to have a placement in a uni lab soon also :-)
Does anyone have any experience of being pregnant and working in a lab? Will being pregnant hinder me doing lots of experiments or only a few?

This is good to hear! I want to go straight to a PhD because I have bee doing my degree part time and it's already taken a long time. A maters would only add more time and I doubt I could fund it.

I am at the end of my undergraduate degree. I want to do a PhD and go on to be a research scientist in a biochemical/medicinal field.
My question is, do I need to get a masters degree first in order to be accepted onto a PhD course?
I have had conflicting advice on this so need it clarifying.
