I am currently a postgraduate student in Swinburne University of technology, Australia pursuing my masters degree in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering.

Also I am an international student from an Asian country, also holding my Bachelors degree in Mechatronics Engineering from California State University, USA.
My interest is in Robotics and Automotive.
I began to realize that the masters program I am following is not taking me through any of my interested areas.
I have my interest on the Masters in International Automotive Engineering program in RMIT.

Visa status: I am holding the 573 student visa status which is called streamlined visa (I don't really understand what that means either)
Questions:
*Is switching from Advanced Manufacturing to Automotive a good idea considering the current bad situation in the automotive industry?
* According to my visa category, can I switch from Swinburne to RMIT directly?
* if yes what is the procedure.
Please help me to get a decision so I work on switching over during the winter break if it is a good idea.
Thanks a lot.
