Master at 33, would that be advisable?

M

This is Parvati from India,I have some questions regarding Masters Study in USA.
I would like to attend a Full-Time Masters degree Program in the field of biology/microbiology/biotechnology/environmental sciences.

Below is my past educational qualification all from India.

BSc- in 2007 (3) years. In (Botany and Zoology, Chemistry), with 1st division marks

MBA in 2010 - (2) years In (Human Resource and Marketing), with 1st division marks

I am 33 years old and have 5 years of work experience I scored 330 in GRE, 7.5 in IELTS. Could you please suggest what are my chances of getting admission in masters course. Am I eligible for a student visa for a Masters degree in STEM at this age?Would that be good for my carrier?

Absolutely definitely. I can understand you concern. When I moved to Europe at first, I was 32 and at that time thought age matters too much. In the eastern culture, the age plays a major role in education and the culture is a bit judgemental. In Europe (and I would assume USA also), the age is not that important. At 40 or 50 or 60 you can make a career shift and it is fine by "most" people.

it can be done, I started my PhD at age 40 ( after graduating from my first degree 14 years earlier. After 10 years of part time study, I finally passed my Doctorate aged 50. 33 is still young enough to be deciding upon your career path and you still have time to change direction if needed. Max
