Well it looks like in 2016/17 a new post graduate loan scheme will be available to students with a 2.1 or higher and under the age of 30.
I'm 28 now and I've been offered an unconditional offer to study at NFTS in January 2016. It would be great if I'm eligible for this scheme considering that I will be classed as a 2016/17 student but when will this scheme take affect? Will students starting in January 2016 be eligible? When can we apply? So many questions.
Like many students that want to study a MA, I come from a low income family and I've already applied for funding and I was planning to apply for a career development loan but if this scheme is available to me I would much rather apply for this.
Anyone else starting in January 2016, do you think this scheme will only apply to students that start study in September 2016?

Hi Rob
It's important to bear in mind that all details of the new scheme are subject to confirmation - we've based our guide on the best possible sources (including the government's own consultation docs') but nothing is set in stone yet.
As the author of the guide and someone who's read through all the consultation paperwork (so you don't have to!) I'm fairly certain the loans *won't* be available in January. The scheme is meant to support students from the 2016-17 academic year, which begins next Autumn.
Incidentally, I'm not sure there will be any requirement for students to hold a 2.1 or higher. Criteria so far have mainly been based on nationality, residency and age.
We're keeping an eye on the loans proposals over at FindAMasters and will update our information as soon as we know more - hopefully that won't be too long now.
Cheers
Mark
Thanks for the info Mark, perhaps I will be able to apply for this loan during my second year instead. Who knows.. I know nothing was set in stone yet. My MA starts 25th of January 2016 and ends 31 January 2018. ... As far as I'm aware I'm technically a 2016/17 student.
In fact my term dates for 2016 are:
25 January – 25 March 2016
4 April – 22 July 2016
5 September – 16 December 2016
I am having a serious problem problem on how to get my school transcript from my university. The policy of not giving the transcript to students, but send it to the university a student wishes to further in his masters program. This affect me seriously because scholarship bodies also require transcript on their online application forms. I think I need someone help over this, a student of any institution to receive from my school. Please help! Thanks
Sorry to hear that, seems very strange... surely after paying for a degree your entitled to your transcript. Everyone should be entitled to their transcript! It contains all your grades, modules etc...
How long ago did you do you degree also where did you do it? Depending when it was done you may need to pay for a copy of it. I got my transcript for free pretty much straight after my degree. I've not used it much but I suppose some places do ask for it such as other universities and potential employers.
Luckily when I graduated at Staffordshire University, not sure on the specifics but I was made aware by the university of this website https://gradintel.com and by logging on and creating an account I was able to download my transcript whenever I want. My uni called it a HEAR (Higher Education Achievement Report).
