I should be ashamed of myself - I know. But I got an e-mail last night from my post-grad uni rep asking about matters he could bring up with members of academic staff and I took advantage of his kind nature. In my defence I can say that I was having a particularly difficult evening with my work and needed a bit of a laugh:-x I kind of think it's funny in a small-minded way, so I hope you don't mind me posting it. It may even help us get more in the Christmas spirit as we near the big, and ultimately (for me), anti-climactic day. I've hidden names in order to prevent identification and save me from possible disciplinary procedures.
Hi,
I'm X, and I've just taken the position as student rep for the Post Graduate
student body this year.
Id like to take a couple of minutes to introduce myself and tell you about what
I'm going to be doing over this year.
I have just started a PhD here at Xand will be working in the field of
Y. I'm new(ish) to Z, however have just completed
a Masters at A so I'm used to and understand, the
challenges, pressures and sometimes hectic lifestyle involved in a Post grad
degree.
In my capacity as Student Rep I will be meeting with academic staff twice a
semester to chat about what's going well and what maybe needs a little more
work.
So If you have any worries, issues or praise for our support, lecture programmes
and services or if you think there is something missing which you would like to
see in the future then please let me know and I will bring it up at a meeting.
Feel free to email me, or just pop along to...
I hope you have all enjoyed the autumn semester and are looking forward to a
well deserved Xmas break, with an over abundance of rich food and drink,
Have fun, as always,
B
So I put...
Hey B,
It has come to my attention that Z does not offer any ancillary
research conduction and thesis writing facilities, which can make doing a
post-graduate degree particularly stressful at times. Do you think that you
could bring this up at the next meeting, please?
Many Thanks
and he said
Hi,
Thanks for your suggestion, ill defiantly bring it up and get back to you about what they think and if they suggest any solutions.
Thanks again
B
I can't believe he fell for it and I feel dead guilty now
