Hi, My name is Jennifer Hawes and I am a MSc Forensic Psychology study at London Metropolitan University.
I am currently looking for volunteers for my research that is investigating the influence of offender gender, participant variables and victim-offender relationship type on attitudes towards sex offence seriousness.
To take part you need to be older than 18 and could be selected for jury duty.
This excludes anyone that currently:
• Is a resident in a hospital or other similar institution
• Regularly visits a medical practitioner for treatment
• That is in guardianship under section seven of the Mental Health Act 1983
• Anyone who lacks the mental capacity, within the meaning of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, to make decisions required of a person serving as a juror.
The nature of this study can be a sensitive subject for many people. The study involves about 30 minutes of your time. You will be given three questionnaires and a vignette about a sexual offence between an adult and child. I can assure you that the scenario provided to you is completely fictional and is not intended to cause you psychological harm or discomfort.
Your involvement is completely voluntary and you can leave and withdraw your data at any time during or after your participant until the data is processed (30th June 2012).
If you are interested in taking part please reply to this advert and I will send you further information about the study. Alternatively, you may email me at Jeh0315@my.londonmet.ac.uk
Thanks for your time
